11 Not technically classifiable as world fairs. ~/ High attendance at the Brussels World Fair resulted in part from capital

expenditures greatly in excess of ammmts expended for other fairs, and from enthusiastic support arising from intense competition between eastern

and western countries. The American press reported in March, 1958, that the Brussels fair had expended $200 million for its own fifty buildings, and an additional $300 million in refurbishing the city. Similar conditions which attract large attendances are not likely to be duplicated in the United States.
