The WORLD Testbed To provide a real network to implement the
(selected) research products of the WORLD project
+ we can seize the existing WOMEN testbed + UniTN is going to have access to a regional-
wide optical + wireless facility (WOTBL)
- not all solutions will be suitable for integration (feasibility check)
- WOTBL delivery plan still under finalization

The WORLD Testbed (contd) What is already available?
The WOMEN testbed is currently running at DISI premises (802.11a/5GHz)
The testbed is built using Linux-based programmable APs
The software is available on the WOMEN website
An Open Platform for developing and validating

The WORLD Testbed (contd) What are we missing?
Long-range connectivity (soon to come, with an HiPERLAN/2 p2p connection between DISI and CREATE-NET)
Users’ authentication (T7.3 – Intelligent Access System)
Extension to multiple NICs and smart antennas
Mobile Mesh Routers (solar-powered?)

The WORLD Testbed (contd) An incremental approach
Dipartimento di Ingegneria e Scienza dell’informazione
F. Granelli, WORLD Kickoff, Oct. 17th, 2009
The WORLD Testbed (contd) Perspectives for partners
To deploy the testbed at their own premises
To contribute to the testbed and trials Integration Roadmap (specifications at M6, delivery at
M19)
To have remote access to the testbed facility (to be checked)
