www.PointCatholicFaith.org
TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUNDAY.
We celebrate the day by remembering our baptismal call
to bring the Gospel to all! Your offering supports the work
and witness of the Mission Church, as it provides for priests, religious, and lay leaders
who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the
most vulnerable communities.
The Lord has done great things for us; ,we are filled with joy!
- Psalm 126

Your contributions to the Diocesan Annual Appeal aid Monsignor Joseph Hirsch in caring
for 64 children at the orphanage in Peru.
Hello everybody,
How wonderful for us to be together again as we celebrate the great missionary heritage we have received. As we celebrated the feast day of St. John de Brebeuf, St. Isaac Jogues, and their companions on Tuesday, we are reminded that missionary life isn’t always easy. Sometimes the folks you are trying to share our relationship with Jesus will reject the faith. Sometimes they even reject you. Still, we continue to persevere onwards!
Way back when our country was mission territory, we were blessed to receive countless donations through the missionary society that established the Church here in the United States as we know it today. Though initially started in France, the pontifical society continues to encourage people the world over to share of their gifts and talents to aid the churches in the developing parts of our world. Just as our ancestors were aided a century or so ago, we are called to aid in spreading the Good News now. The most important way we support the missions is by prayer. If we can take the model of St. Therese of Lisieux who so boldly prayed for folks around the world while never leaving her convent in France, may we aid the developing world by keeping them in our prayers too!
As we have received so much from others, we are called to continue to carry on and pass along our gift of faith. Through this collection we are able to say thank you to the countless folks that enabled us to become established in this nation so long ago and help our friends in developing parts of the world build up their local church too. Please prayerfully consider making a donation to the missions on this World Mission Sunday, however large or small, and may we thank God for the opportunity to serve Him, our neighbors, and ourselves by carrying out the great commission. You may make your donation by using the envelope in your packet from St. Joe’s, using an envelope from the entrance of the church, or by simply noting on your gift that it is for the missions. Let us Go Forth and Make Disciples of All Nations!
May God bless you always, Fr. Hennes
P.S. Thank you for everyone who has donated new clothing for Afghan refugees! There are so many needs right now. A reminder that we will be shipping everything out after Mass next Sunday so make sure your donation is made by then if you wish to participate.

What Are You Looking For? The first question that Jesus asks in John’s Gospel is, “What are you looking for?” He is speaking to John’s disciples as they follow after Him, desiring to know who Jesus is and what His mission is all about. After the disciples respond, Jesus gives them an instruction, “Come and you will see!” Whether we can hear it or not, that same question is being asked to you. What are YOU looking for? So often, we find ourselves searching, not knowing exactly where to go or what to do in life. We seek things that will hopefully fill the emptiness and longing that we have in our hearts, but nothing seems to satisfy. The real answer to this can be found in Jesus’ response as He invites each of us to follow after Him, to get to know Him, and to follow the path He has placed before us. For some men, that path is a very special invitation to walk in Jesus’ footsteps as a priest. If you or someone you know is interested in discovering more about this call to the priesthood, please contact me at: Fr. Nate Kuhn, Director of Vocational Recruitment for the Diocese of La Crosse, 3710 East Ave. S. PO Box 4004, La Crosse, WI 54602; or by phone at: 608.791.2667.
2021 Know Your Faith Series: The Social Justice Teachings of the Church. The next presentation will be held on Oct. 28 from 6:30-8 p.m., with the topic being Rights & Responsibilities. Fr. Al Burkhardt will discuss Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth), a papal encyclical issued by Pope John XXIII on the rights and obligations of individuals and of the sate, as well as the proper relations between states. Join in person at St. Anthony Retreat Center, Marathon or via Zoom. Register by 5 p.m. the prior day by calling 715-443-2236 or emailing [email protected].
