Every year over 15 Million
children die of hunger.
“Hunger” is defined as a condition in which peopledo not get enough food to provide the nutrients(carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, mineralsand water) for active, healthy lives.
Malnutrition is defined as a condition resultingfrom under nutritionor excessive consumptionof one or morenutrients that can impairphysical and mentalhealth, and cause or by the consequence of infectious disease
The World Hunger Organization estimates that:
*1/3 of the world is well- fed *1/3 is under-fed *1/3 is starving
Three billion people in the world today are trying to survive just on U.S. $2 a day In the U.S. hunger and race are related
In 2005 46% African American were chronically hungry40% Latino children chronically hungryCompared to 16% white children
▪One of twelve people worldwide is malnourished.
160 million children under 5 years of age are starving
Afghanistan, Africa, Austria, Bahrain, Belize, Bhutan, Iraq, Jordan, Laos, Macao, Malta, Mauritius, Myanmar, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Somalia, Sudan, and Thailand.
> For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for five years.
Factors contributing to the current Food crisis include:

*Visual disturbancesEyes need vitamin A: orange fruits andvegetables, dark green vegetables.
*Bleeding gums/decaying teethTeeth need calcium: low-fat dairy, leafygreen vegetables.
