Celebrations at ITC Maurya

The World Environment day, Green Walk was organized on 4th of Jun’19 at the ITC Maurya.

The day started with a green walk and sapling plantation at Dhaula Kuan along the Delhi Ridge – 80 associates were a part of the walk along with the senior management and hotel resident guest . 350 saplings were planted and 380 saplings were distributed to the associates and vendors of ITC Maurya.

Organic herbs (mint ,aloe veera, baisel,thyme,marzoram,dill etc and neem sapling were also distributed to the associates of ITC Maurya.

Saplings were also given away to non-resident guests who came for lunch in ITC Maurya .

To bring in the “Green Message” to the in house guests, flower arrangements in public areas of the hotel were based on the Green Theme.

The cafeteria also celebrated the Green theme with the whole menu revolving around Green – Green Roti, Palak Paneer Sabzi, Green Dal, Green Lady Finger, Green Raita.

ITC Grand Bharat Celebrates World Environment Day "Air Pollution"- Theme has been aligned with United Nation and Haryana State Pollution Control Board Initiative. Pedal For Sustainable Future- World Bicycle Day was celebrated on June 3rd 2019, cycling was organized from ITC Grand Bharat Rajpath to CGR (8 Kms ) , to motivate a pollution free mode of transport.

Engineer yourself in Clean Air - Yoga Session organized on June 4th 2019, in view of utilizing the environment to benefit physical, mental and spiritual disciplines.

ITC Grand Bharat Majaarun 2K - All associates united to create awareness on pollution reduction and environment protection . Majaarun 2K started from ITC Grand Bharat Rajpath - Highway -Service Gate 2 - Golf Course – Peacock lawn.

Environment Day Celebration with Aarohan’s (NGO) – Aarohan is mainly working in the area of education for underprivileged children of the society, women and other community members living in difficult circumstances, also with rural/tribal areas and transgender community.Their mission is to provide comprehensive education, health care, skill training, empowerment support for holistic support for less privileged children to become responsible adults and leaders for tomorrow.

Tree Plantation – 200 saplings were planted at several areas in association with Aarohan’s (NGO) .

Environment and Art – Painting competition involving Aarohan’s (NGO) and ITC Grand Bharat associates .

Aarohan’s(NGO) has presented a skit based on preservation of trees.

Key Highlights

• This year's theme for the World Environment Day was 'Air Pollution’

• At ITC Windsor, we scheduled various activities like Tree plantation drive, sapling distribution, Morning walks & yoga, etc. over the course of the week to engage guests and staff alike

• Activities undertaken received tremendous praises and appreciation from guests – both in-house and outside

• Special focus was laid on developing the need to engage with the nature, protect and conserve natural resources and biodiversity through minimal efforts

Activities undertaken: An Overview

• Painting and Essay Competition for Kids at Bal Bhawan, Cubbon Park – As part of our CSR activities on Environment Day, we organized painting and essay writing competitions for all our employees’ children as well as outside participants. The event and competition was organized by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, while ITC Windsor provided the refreshments for children and planted the saplings at the park

• Tree Plantation Drive at Garden City University – As an outreach program, saplings were planted at the Garden City University to mark the World Environment Day. Advocating tree plantation is as an integral part of spreading the message of conserving the environment. Over 90 saplings were planted and distributed to the campus. As a result of the association, ITC Windsor promoted the importance of connecting with the nature while connecting with one another

• Sapling Distribution – To encourage guests to reconnect with the nature, saplings were distributed to all guests at all outlets at the hotel. Packed in jute pots, the sapling distribution were aimed to rekindle the romance with nature and drive tree plantation. The initiative also received a lot of appreciation and goodwill from the guests

• Workshop to Combat Air Pollution – In order to educate our associates on the effects of air pollution and strategize ways to combat the same, ITC Windsor hosted a workshop for its staff on the subject. Eminent Green Crusader and Spiritual Ecologist, Ms. Smita Kamath came on board to share and inspire an alternative sustainable lifestyle. The key takeaway messages from the session were Education on Air Pollution, Domestic Sustainable Practices to Prevent Soil Erosion and Ways to Live a Sustainable Lifestyle

• Yoga & Nature Walk at Cubbon Park – To inculcate the practice of reconnecting with the nature, our associates were taken for a morning activity which comprised of yoga, followed by a nature walk at Cubbon Park. The activity was aimed to re-engage with the nature, while participating in some physical exercise. The activity saw participation from all departments, which contributed to its success.

within the hotel.• 4 rain water harvesting pit which the

unit has installed in the year 1992, 2005 and 2018.

• The children were shown and taught about• the renewable energy resource- solar

plant at ITC Rajputana.• Average generation of electricity

through these solor panels is approx 13000 unit per month.

• The Responsible Luxury walk was followed by the tree plantation by engineering, housekeeping and HR staff.
