As the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is just around the corner, Licence Check have released 'World Cup Walter' to warn members of the public to not drive the morning after a heavy night, or in this case, only a few pints.

  • Make sure your drivers dont do this World Cup Walter
  • Meet our mate Walter, he drives a skip, hes never in a rush. He doesnt speed, and has no points so he thinks hes rather good!
  • His only vice, or so he says, is a beer round at the pub. So with the World Cup on, he just cant wait, booze & footy thats a plus!
  • Walter has a date to meet his mates, at The Feathers after six. Burger and chips, a couple of beers, Brazil on the box; that's a hat
  • When Walter arrives, his mates are at the bar, theres Billy, Bob and Stan Were going to have a right good night, well have a kitty, thats the plan
  • First match of the Cup and opening ceremony too, The nights long and the beer flows freely. So Wise Man Walter gets a taxi home, because he loves his job so dearly.
  • Up early next day and back on the road, but Walters driving could be better. So when hes pulled over by the cops, they get out their breathalyser.
  • Oh dear, poor Walters in a fix, hes still way over the limit. Now his licence is no longer clean. Hes dropped himself right in it!
  • Remember folks, its quite alright to have a beer or two, But please dont think because youve slept, that the cops cant come for you.
  • Dont take the risk, reduce your drinks, or you just might be sorry. You could end up without a job, Just like our World Cup Wally
  • Whilst the World Cup is on and throughout summer, police forces from across the country will be cracking down on motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs with particular emphasis on the fact that motorists could still be over the limit after a night's sleep
  • Chief Constable Suzette Davenport, ACPOs lead for roads policing, says: Thousands of people will be celebrating the World Cup here in the UK, and the police want people to have a good time and enjoy an action-packed event that we only see every four years, but that is not an excuse to take a risk and get behind the wheel while you are over the limit. The morning after can be just as dangerous as the night before so if you have been drinking into the night, there is a strong chance that you may not be fit to drive the morning after, and no amount of cold showers or black coffee will change that.
