The World Banlks Depoitory Libary Program is one of the key element. in itspublications strategy. As the world's largest development institution, the World Bankundertakes large projects of research, analysis, and data gatheing. The dissminationof that research is a necessary part afthe Bank's olbectives, because knowledge andinfomation, to have value, must be shared. Wellorganized lbraries that semt numeroususers are one of the most effectivechannels for the shing ofknowledge and imation.For that reason, the World Bank sets great store by its rela ip with its depositores andencourages their activities in every practicable way.

The libraries listed in this directory have all agreed to work with the World Bank asactive partners in the disseinatinof Bank mateials by promoting them and etheir use amongtheir different groups ofreaders.

Locatioit Genely no more than one librauy is designated in any one city.

Facilities. Participaing isions must have a public reading room andadequate space to sheve d maintain some 300 new publication a year.

Staff A least one aed librari must be responible for Plenting theorgaizatiors agreement with the Bank or be in charge ofthe Wodd Bankpublications colection.
