Lessons From Gujarat, India, conducted by Dr. Amita Shah in 2001 A large proportion (70 per cent) of farmers reported an increase in soil moisture Significant increase in the irrigated area (i.e. 100% increase) With increased irrigation, the gross cropped area has also increased Overall positive impact on crop productivity 87 per cent of the households reported that the project has improved drinking water facilities The total net returns (from all crops combined) to households has increased by 63 per cent Impact of WDP in Gujarat (cont..)
