LDVM allows IT administrators to move application servers between distant hosts without service interruption. It has been identified as appropriate for use cases that require applications to remain active and to maintain state/connections while being moved over distance. It is a planned process that is completed over a period of time. Capacity management. Cases in which application load is transferred between data centers for purposes of capacity management. 2) Disaster avoidance. In the event that a service-impacting event might be identified before it occurs, application workload might be transferred to an un-impacted data center. 3) Workload redistribution. Application workload might be brought up and configured at one data center then ultimately transferred (uninterrupted) to another as part of the provisioning process. 4) Data center upgrades. When upgrading infrastructure at one data center it may make sense to transfer application workload to another data center without interruption.
