What’s happening in Umbrella Childrens Services

This month, the children enjoyed getting messy at Umbrella House!

The children enjoyed a range of messy, tactile activities including shaving foam, cornflour and coloured spaghetti We also made some yummy, gooey Nutella brownie muffins. All of the children

helped to measure and mix the ingredients and got quite messy in the process!

We would like you to meet the wonderful children that access Umbrella services. Over future months, we will feature some of our children or young people. This month, meet Damian… My name is: Damian I am: 11 years old My support worker is: Danielle My favourite colour is: Green My favourite food is: McDonald’s If I had a superpower, it would be: “flying” When I am out with my support worker, I enjoy: Going to McDonald’s, cooking at Umbrella House. My support worker helps me to: follow boundaries and be more confident.

What’s happening in Umbrella Young Adult Services

The INDE group enjoyed a relaxing yoga session this month. The session was held by a yoga teacher called Brenda and she gave everyone in the group a cushion and mat to use. She then showed the group how to warm up their bodies before attempting any of the yoga movements. Brenda demonstrated a movement called ‘the tree’ and then got the whole group to do it too. She also showed us some helpful exercises to stop us from feeling stressed. We then relaxed with our blankets to end the session. The group really enjoyed experiencing Yoga and have even asked Brenda to come back again and do another session with INDE in the future.

WrightStart Experiences Ltd. Lewis Wright, runs a local driving school that provides driving experiences to under 17’s allowing them to learn to drive in a safe environment prior to being of legal age, it’s called WrightStart Experiences Ltd.

These experiences have been running now for over three years . In this time numerous disability groups have visited them. They have had a wide array of visitors across al disabilities. After talking with their parents and carers after the drive they were all amazed this was even possible and for some has been a life changing event, it definitely makes some incredible memories.
