Working Steps To Remove Search Bar From Android Home Screen

The one and only annoying thing that we found on our android mobile are ‘Google’s Search Bar’. Previous models of Android mobiles come with the facility of removing search bar by simply hold and drag it to remove But recently launched smartphonesdon’t have such facility. The reason behind that is Google wants every user to make use of the Google search bar.

But truly speaking, I won’t use that box even very often. I used to go to chrome or opera for searching anything instead of using Google search bar which is easy to access in our home screen of our mobile.

However, I would like to use more space as much as possible on my screen. But annoying search bar doesn’t allow me to use that. So I search a lot and while by I came to know that many Smartphone users are also searching for the same queries for a long time. Some are getting correct solutions and still some are suffering to remove the search bar in the mobile phones like LG G3, Moto G2, Red 2 prime, Motorola Moto x and more like having lollipop  version.

By removing this search bar which is literally not used by users, you can get a complete row of space in which you can use more apps or widgets or you can set a fully visible wallpaper. But rarely, some users are using this search bar can never mind about this article. Below, I have shown you all a live on the spot testing of search bar removing from my Moto G 2 Gen mobile.

Disabling Google

This is the very basic step to do in all smartphones. There is a possibility to happen. Some version of mobile accepts this step and remove the search bar gently from your mobile. No rooting is required to do this step.

If you are running a Google stock custom launcher or Google Experience Launcher (GEL) you can simply disable the Google to make the search bar disappears.

Follow following steps to disable Google,

Setting -> Apps -> Swipe until you reach ‘All’ tab -> Google Search (Or) Google -> Disable

In some recently launched models, this procedure doesn’t work. In this, you cannot find Disable option because Disable option looks in gray color in which you cannot perform any actions.

Custom Launcher

A quite effect is required to do this. Visit play store and download any launcher you like most and install in your mobile. A launcher is nothing but an app to change the appearance of your home screen as you wish.

For example, I am using nova launcher. By using this launcher, you can remove search bar by following the steps given below,

Nova Setting -> Desktop -> Persistent Search Bar-> None.

If you are using any other launcher, you may find the different setting to remove the search bar from your home screen.
