In the beginning…

• Stronger workforce planning part of the Capacity Project’s initial workplan

• Partnership established with major commercial software vendor

• Costs could not be brought to an affordable level for countries.

…so we started developing open source workforce planning software…• Recognized the variety and

complexity of available models… learned of WHO’s work and others…

• Saw there was very little source data available in the countries for data input

• Changed the priorities to build management and qualification information systems

What and where…

So now, after three years…

…and many changes, we return to workforce planning.
