Future of Workflow• Desupported as an Oracle product for

standalone use, Note:391546.1 • No longer part of the 11G DB install. Will be

installed as part of the Apps Tech Stack.• Still heavily used in R12 and will be

supported by Applications Technology Group.• Will not be used in Fusion.

BPEL - Business Process Execution Language

• BPEL is the primary replacement for Workfow Technology.

• You can use BPEL today with your 11i and R12 Applications.

• Attend some of the BPEL sessions at OpenWorld or search through OAUG presentations on BPEL to get some exposure to this powerful tool.

Workflow Builder Client and Vista• Has anyone other than me attempted to

install the Workflow Builder Client on Microsoft Vista?

• ML Note: 551484.1, Unable To Install Workflow Builder On Microsoft Vista“There is plan as of now to certify it. This is due to the desupport notice (Note.391546.1) of all standalone workflow installations. Workflow is now an exclusively Applications 11i technology. All customers requiring the functionality of Workflow are encouraged to upgrade/migrate to Oracle BPEL Process Manager for new and future projects.”

Builder 2.6.3 On Windows Vista Fails• Solution:

To configure the compatibility mode for an application, just locate the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting Properties from the menu. 1. Navigate to the WF Builder installer (setup.exe) in the file system

2. Right-Click on the "setup.exe" > then go to Properties

3. Check Compatibility Mode & Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)“

4. Now restart the Installer for the Workflow Builder

Bulk Notification Response

“The following is from Vijay Shanmugam, in Oracle Development”

• Allows users to select like notifications and provide the same response– Patch 6722406 is one-off for11i.ATG_PF.H.RUP6

(requires password from support)– This will also be available in 12.0.6– Profile option 'WF: Enable Bulk Notification

Response' to Yes.– It only works in the Worklist

Searchable Notifications

“The following is from Vijay Shanmugam, in Oracle Development”

• With the release of AppsSearch (integration of Oracle Secure Enterprise Search for EBS) on 12.0.3, Workflow Notifications are available as searchable objects.

• This feature is available for Customers uptaking AppsSearch on 12.0.3.

Workflow & Blackberry Devices“The following is from Vijay Shanmugam in Oracle Development”

• ‘Please note that this was not a certification effort but just a fix that helped certain Customers. While mailer is really not certified against any specific device, this fix helps using e-mail responses from mobile devices..’

• The fix replaces spaces with %20 strings so Mail To URL’s will now work on many mobile devices.

Workflow Item Type Administration“The following is from Gary Grant in Oracle Support”

• You can now allow users to access the Workflow Administration forms on an Item Type basis.

• EBS in general is being enhanced to enable Data Security and Function Security at a more granular level i.e a low as per User or Role assigned to users using UMX (which simply consolidate the features of function and data security) and/or Functional Developer/Administrator which is the new FMWK version of System Administrator > Applications menu and a few others.

Mass Retry Errored Activities

• This is implemented as a Concurrent Program to mass retry errored activities.– Available in 11iRUP6, 5903106– Available in 12.0.2, 5934464

Workflow Directory• How many of you have had trouble trying to activate

a responsibility that was assigned to the user and deactivated in the past?

• ML Note:433473.1, Unable To Activate a User Responsibility Assignment that Existed Before Upgrade

• This note has both a patch fix from 11i and R12 as well as instructions for a workaround.

• This works I have implemented this at two different clients!!!
