However, WorkZone is not just about modern design and stylish features. At F Engel, we have taken the concept of workwear a step further to where it becomes an individual expression of personality and personal style - WorkZone style.

The EU Flower eco-label guarantees that the materials we use are environmentally friendly, without compromising on quality or function. Products bearing the EU Flower label have been tested for chemical residues, which might be harmful to health, the environment and in the treatment of waste water. It’s a question of conscience.

How to measure correctly:Get someone to help you. Keep your shirt and trousers on, stand naturally, and let your arms hang loose. Get your helper to put the tape measure horizontally around your body, firmly but not too tight.

1) NeckMeasure around neck (tight + 2 cm).

FASHION HITS WORKWEAR!New times, new trends and new technologies have been the basis for the development of the completely new WorkZone 2008 collection. We aim to be first with new designs, new colours and new functions, without compromising on quality.

New colours such as Dark Zone (dark olive/brown), Race Zone (red/black) and other smart nuances which challenge established traditions in workwear, have been introduced into the collection. This enables your company to choose exactly the right colour to meet your needs.

Interviews with workers and service personnel have resulted in new designs for smart slim-line, long-sleeved T-shirts tone-in-tone print on the front or sleeves, smart sweat jackets with zipper and print on the front, zip-off trousers with extra pockets and integrated knee pockets in Cordura®, bib overalls with new improved back elastic for increased comfort, knee pads in washable material and more. Smart softshell jackets in windproof and water-resistant materials with a Work-Tex membrane and hooded jackets in bold new colours represent a tough challenge to the traditional work jacket.

Quality has also been improved, for example, the tough canvas weave polyester/cotton mix with Nanofinish, which is both water and dirt resistant and has a brushed, breathable reverse. There is also a completely new high performance membrane for all winter wear with a windproof factor of WP10000MM and breathability of MVP10000G.

WHITE ZONEA bricklayer, a painter or a carpenter needs freedom of movement and White Zone has been specially created with this in mind. Spacious and sealable pockets, strong straps for tools, personal beeper and hammer are all details which make White Zone a flexible option. Standard workwearOur standard workwear is made from 65 % polyester/35 % cotton, 300 g/m2 and is a strong, tough canvas type with a slightly brushed reverse which makes the fabric soft and comfortable to wear. The material is Nano-treated to give an original look and breathability.

Winter wearStandard winter jackets, Casual Zone winter trousers and vest 100 % nylon Ottoman, 180 g/m2 with Work-Tex membrane. An extremely wear-resisting, durable and tear-proof nylon, the material has a waterproof factor of WP10000MM and a breathability of MVP10000G.

Casual pilot jacket Outer material: 100 % polyester, 280 g/m2 with Cordura® reinforcement and Work-Tex membrane. Trimming material: 200 g/m2.

Nanofinish WorkZone fabrics are treated using nanotechnology, which ensures an original look and breathability. The treatment leaves an invisible membrane which improves durability and, at the same time, protects against dirt, wind and weather. The nano treatment does not provoke allergic reactions, is water-based and environmentally-friendly.

Water penetration resistance - WPWater penetration resistance is measured in millimetre water column pressure. This measurement indicates the degree to which a given material resists water penetration.

Breathability - MTPThe MTP value indicates the breathability of a membrane.

Cordura®

We use 100 % Cordura® - 340 g/m2 reinforcements on knee pockets in all our trouser models. Cordura® is a superbly durable material, extremely hard-wearing and resistant to tears and holes.CORDURA® is:10 x more durable than cotton 3 x more durable than standard polyester 2 x the durability of standard nylon

We use 3M Scotchlite™ reflective tape. These tapes exceed the most stringent safety criteria. They make certain that you are visible, reducing the risk of accident. As the reflective tape is also flexible, you will be seen and still be comfortable.

Safety categories for EN 471 – fluorescent workwear This symbol means that the clothing is certified to EN 471. The upper figure gives the clothing classification and the lower figure gives the highest class of reflection.

EN 343: Bad weather protectionThis pictogram shows the degree of protectivity. The numbers next to the pictogram indicate: x: The outer jacket’s resistance to water getting in from outside (water resistance). 3 = highest protection, 1 = lowest.

y: Resistance to moisture transfer (breathability) shows how well moisture from sweating can escape from the inside and out through the outer material.3 = good permeation, 1 = bad.

Work-Tex membraneThe Work-Tex membrane is a component of all WorkZone winter wear. In winter jackets, vests and trousers, the Work-Tex membrane effectively protects against the effects of wind and water and at the same time ensures that your skin can breathe. Workwear with the Work-Tex membrane is particularly suited for work outdoors that demands physical effort and creates a great deal of body heat. The Work-Tex membrane makes sure that you don’t get cold when working in an unpredictable, and often damp, climate.

3M Thinsulate is the latest in insulation technology. The fabric is made of synthetic microfibres that are ten times smaller than the ones used in other synthetic insulation materials. These minute fibres absorb more air than other materials. This means that Thinsulate can achieve the same insulation effect as other products but with a significantly thinner layer.

Thermolite® triple function underwearThe underwear is absorbent, and it transports sweat away from the skin while insulating warmth close to the body.

At F. Engel we put quality first. This means more than just delivering quality goods at the appointed time. We ensure the high product quality already during product development via our internal quality control system which runs a series of process and random checks. Attention to quality continues in buying, tests, laboratory and wear tests, sales, logistics and service.

At F. Engel we use the following quality system:

1. Fabric Quality Control Fabrics are controlled for colour, weight and physical properties, in accordance with applicable standards. Durability is tested by a Martindale durability test in which the textile is placed in a machine which subjects it to a pressure of 12kPa whilst it rotates in a circular motion and is rubbed against a piece of rough material. The resulting figures show how much friction the material can withstand before it wears through. The test results for both WorkZone standard workwear and WorkZone Casual Zone show that they can withstand more than 40,000 Martindales (rubbing movements) at a pressure of 12kPa, which is top-quality for workwear.

2. Process controlWhen starting production, specification and counter tests are compared in order to determine all evaluation points. The following evaluation points are controlled: the fabric, model details, size chart and marking. Specifications are controlled throughout the production process, faults are reported and faulty goods either corrected or destroyed. At rinse/packing stages of production, the finished goods are checked to make sure that they meet specifications, faults are reported and faulty goods either corrected or destroyed.

3. Goods Reception ControlWhen we receive goods from our suppliers, we make random control tests to check that goods supplied meet certain specifications. The following points are evaluated: fabric, model details, size chart and marking. Any products that do not meet specifications are reported and further random tests are made. A fault report is prepared and sent to the supplier for correction in subsequent production.

4. Design and product developmentThe design of WorkZone workwear is under constant development. The aim is to maintain the modern and functional cut. The design is perfected through a series of practical tests and design evaluations that are based on standards of: quality, functionality, comfort and fit. We are developing new products all the time, for many different kinds of industries and end-users, and WorkZone quality and functionality are always our main priority.

ProductionAt F. Engel we believe that there are many advantages in having our own production facilities. With two wholly-owned factories in Lithuania, we have optimum control of logistics and great flexibility throughout the entire production process. These factories employ over 570 seamstresses, all of whom are specially trained to produce WorkZone workwear.
