Do to the unfortunate circumstance with the covid-19 virus and social distancing are meet, the Post meeting will be held using the video conference platform ZOOM. ZOOM will allow us to be able to use both Video and Phone conferencing.

With advice and support from our State Office, this meeting will not be a traditional meeting. The meeting will have two items on it's agenda. 1. Discuss and Vote on a offer for the purchase of our property. 2. We will also attempt to elect officers for the 2020-21 year.

Since we will be using ZOOM for this meeting we will need your email address to send out the Zoom link information. Please send your info to qm@vfw628.org - Please include your Name, Member Number, Cell Number and Email Address. Auxiliary PresidentWhat a month April was - - can we have a do over?? As May come around the corner, don’t forget May 1 is Loyalty Day and Memorial Day will May 25. Although we may not be able to remember are Veterans as we usually do, we can all still take time on our own to show appreciation for all.

Election and Installation of officers will be conducted at the May 6 Auxiliary meeting. This will be conducted during a ZOOM meeting. If I do not have your email address, please send an email to auxiliary@vfw628.org and I will get you a link to the meeting. Meeting and election will be held at the 7 pm meeting and an additional ZOOM will be sent out for an 8 pm installation.

If you can sew, the VFW is collecting masks for COVID to pass out to Veterans and Auxiliary members. A number of masks have already been donated and given out. We appreciate all that have contributed whether it be sewing supplies or donations.

A BIG Thank you to Auxiliary members Connie, Val and Lori who made wellness calls for the Post to check on the Post Member aged 65 and older. The calls and work by these ladies were much appreciated.

District Meetings were cancelled and the National Auxiliary has canceled the 2020 National Convention. I will try to keep you posted as I hear new updates.

As always, we are always looking for new members to join the Auxiliary and help us support our Veterans. Please let us know if you need membership information to give someone new.

Although COVID-19 has had an impact on the Alliance (as with the nation); we have been making great strides to prepare for the future. Here is a quick rundown of some of the key activities in the past couple of weeks.

In the last two weeks we have in a socially distanced manner served 647 customers. The Alliance is now at 500+ members each of whom receive either a 5% civilian or 10% mil/vet discount throughout the Alliance. Each membership costs $1, is for a lifetime and comes with the expectation that all servicemen/women and veterans join the American Legion and VFW (if eligible).

Gun Range: 271-7808We are now offering “Private Lessons”. This is a 1-on-1 introduction to handguns.The VIP Suite will be done next week (cabinets, countertop, video, 2 mini-fridges, custom targets). Call for more details.Remember Mil/Vet Mondays from 4:00-8:00. FREE range time for all VFW members!Patriot Grill: 271-3238The grill is now open from 11:00 to 8:00 Mon-Sat. and 11:00 to 6:00 on Sun.Full menu is available every day.$6 Lunch Specials are also served every day: Mon.–Meatloaf; Tues.–Brats; Wed.–Hot Beef; Thurs.–Pork Loin; Fri.–Chicken Fried Steak; Sat. –Spaghetti; Sun.–Chicken Pot Pie.Club Lobo: 271-6617This is an eclectic military themed lounge, open for cold beer, wine, cocktails, and fellowship. Also, the family “Breakout” terrace is open with video lottery and family games.The Hangar Gift Shoppe: The gift shoppe is being stocked with American Made and Veteran Made products. It should be open around June 1st.Armory Building:We are getting the Armory Building ready for the VFW to move in on June 1st.
