His bridge included BASCULES which could be raised to let ships through and HIGH LEVEL WALKWAYS so that pedestrians could walk across the bridge while the bascules were open.You’ll have a great view of London from up there! It took 8 years to build Tower Bridge, from the bottom up. There are 2 MILLION rivets in the bridge – all set by hand. Tower Bridge is a marvel of Victorian engineering.
