    But, Im just a lizard.

    Hey There!

Sorry for the long delay between newsletters I missed a Winter update!

    Hope you are doing good.

It has been a time of re-evaluating for me. I really looked at my schedule,

budget, goals for my life (all that kind of stuff), talked to the Lord andtried to listen. And so, since October I have been working part-time at

my old job at Frito LayI had forgotten how much I enjoy putting

chips on shelves. Frito Lay is a little bit like Jesus because when the

chips are down you can count on Jesus for sure and Frito will be there to

restock :) I work mostly on the weekends, Fri, Sat, Sunday and Tues evenings. I am also

working a little bit at our local alternative school, Providence, as an instructional aide in the

night school for kids who are at of risk dropping out. It has been a great adventure and has

increased my already great respect for those amazing people who work in education.

These additions to my schedule have been an exercise in multi-tasking as I continue to serve

at CornerStone. I really like being at CornerStone. The missionaries we serve are people who

I am jealous to be like in their love for God and people. As we serve

together, I am reminded that there is evil in our world that ravages peo-ple. Child abuse, addictions, war, disease and human trafficking are re-

alities. A PBS documentary, called Defiant Requiem: Voices of Resis-

tance (more info on the back it is powerful) reminded me, again, how

important it is for all of us to stand against evil and to stand with the

God Who loves. I need the intentional schedule at CornerStone that in-

cludes prayer, Bible study and fasting (all the stuff the Bible talks about)

to help me keep learning how to not do nothing. I dont want evil to triumph (it has already

taken too much). I need the structure of a community pursuing God together. I know me. I

don't pursue Him as well by myself.

So, I decided to work outside of CornerStone, which I really enjoy, and serve at CornerStone

which I enjoy and is good for me and others. I want to be an extravagant giver and I really do

not like fundraising. The monks at a local monastery make cheese and fruitcake to supportthemselves so I am asking the

    Lord for some creative,

    achievable fundraising ideas. I am

    more like Adrian Monk(the OCD

    detective on TV) than Gethsemani

Monks, but I do love to work and

be creative, so I wont give up.

Thomas Edison said, I have not failed. I have just found 10,000

ways that wont work. I turned on a light bulb today, so I am grateful he kept trying.

So, Ill keep trying. I want to love the Lord all of my days with all of my heart and learn to be

loved by Him. I want to love people, too. Bless you to keep trying, too.

    :) Kathy Wooten

    Going toJail...Thisyear ismy 7 yearjail

anniversary. I havetaken some time off throughout the years butoverall I have

beenin the slammer one nighta week for 7 years.I have learned somuchand

grown toreallycareabout the ladies there. Manywe see again and again. I havea

great desire inmy heartfor their freedom and abilityto love the Lordand be loved

byHIM.Theyseemto makedecisions for HIM injailbut when out of jailso easily

fall into their oldlifestyle. It is hard to watch them continue to stumble, hurt them-

selves, their children, families, society. Good intentionsare not enoughfor them or

me. Deeper, more desperate actions are

    neededand support systemsare needed, too.

    I amnotsure whatallis neededbutI doseethe

need andI long for their freedom. Onebeautiful,

imperfect example of Gods power; is my friend

Miracle. I metMiracle some years agoand have

been so discouraged as I watchedher struggle

    with homelessness& loneliness, no support

system and other problems. Wow, Miracle and

    God have

really been working together! Miracle (what

a great name :)has been faithfully attending

Grace Community Churchon Shun Pike in

    Nicholasville since Oct 2012. Thesweet

churchs pastors go to jail once a month and

minister there. They embrace folks right out

of jail, have Narcotics Anonymous meetings

    Mon& Fri,Biblestudy,choir,youthgroup,kids church, etc.Miracle hasflourished there

and I am sogratefulfor their leadership and their heart for Jesus and people.

Pleasepray that Godwould connect the girls at jail with a body of believers.

    I watched a

    PBS documentary

    Defiant Requiem: Voices of Resistance

In the spring of 1944, a handpicked group of Nazi officerswas treated to an unusual performance by inmates in aconcentration camp. What appeared to be a soaring rendition

of a choral masterpiece was intended as a subversivecondemnation of the Nazis and a desperate message to theoutside world. In the face of horrific living conditions, slavelabor and the constant threat of deportation to Auschwitz,

the Jewish inmates of Terezin concentration camp artists, musicians, poets and writers fought back with art andmusic. (http://video.pbs.org/video/2364988989)

    Pastor Simone and Miracleat church

They sang the Bible to their captors it was powerful.

Ours is a different time than WW2 but still people

suffer and are voiceless, and so part of our privilege

here at the House of Prayer is to bring songs and

prayers of admiration to our great God and to remem-ber those who suffer and those who help them. It is a

defiant resistance to the darkness in our world. I am

convinced that when people pray it really makes a

difference. God really likes to hear our voices and He

likes to move on our behalf. He loves us. Our world

today is not what He intended, but God will make it so

(see the whole book of Revelation). All of us will bow

to Himand I want to do it voluntary, both now and

then. Because He is so good (the birds chirping out-

side are proof, so is the whale in the sea, and the sun

that is not too close nor too far away)He is so

goodthat we cannot comprehend Himwithout His

help. Evil is so bad that we are deceived by it, easily, and lulled to sleep. My life here at CornerStone helps

me stay awake and offer a defiant resistance. I am

praying that wherever you are, you will be a defiant

resistor to the darkness. Our lives make a difference.
