From the Principal Class Team…
Dear Parents/Carers and Students,
One of our Prep students recently visited Wales with her family. Whilst she was there, her Nanna knitted her this lovely Woodville Lion. Thank you for sharing this with us Emily. We have updated the calendar of events on the first page to take us through to the end of the year. Pop in to the office if you would like a hard copy to stick to the fridge. Until next week, we wish everyone a wonderful EXTRA LONG weekend and remind all families that maximising attendance is a critical factor in your child achieving their full potential so remember, Every Day Counts! Have a fabulous week.
Lyn, Jodi and Nadia Principal Class Team

Every Day Counts
EVERYDAY COUNTS Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child's education. Students learn new things at school every day - missing school puts them behind and disconnects them from their peers.

NUMERACY
This term in Numeracy, the Preps have been looking at division. We have been practising ‘sharing’ objects so everyone gets the same amount.
3/4 Team News
Water Safety
Students in grades 3/4 spent time with a lifeguard last week, learning about the important safety aspects we need to consider when we visit the beach, pool and river. 'Did you know that not one person has drowned when swimming in between the flags at the beach?' We learnt how to identify a rip in the beach and how to cope if we are caught in a rip. Here are some reminders on what we should do if we are caught in a rip:
Raise an arm and call out for help, or
Float with the current, it may return you to a shallow sandbank, or
Swim parallel to the beach or towards the breaking waves, until you return
to shore.

Song Room
The year one students in Miss Bourchier's and Mrs Quilty's, classes have been working with Brad, a visiting dance artist from The Song Room. The students have worked incredibly hard to master some complex dance moves, build their confidence, and develop their singing and stage skills. They will be performing at the Melbourne Town Hall in November. We are so proud of our stars! Miss Bourchier, Mrs Quilty and Mrs Wood.
5/6 Team News
This week the Year 5/6 students visited the Shrine of Remembrance to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Beersheba. The commemoration ceremony acknowledged the service of the Light Horse Brigade, as we gathered to reflect on the brave actions of the light horsemen and their horses. School captains, Albat and Oliver, who laid a wreath as a mark of our school’s respect, proudly represented Woodville.
Jye from 5/6C was also fortunate enough to meet and chat with the Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC.
