After a day at sea heading towards the Scandinavian coast, you awake to findyourself cruising gently along the splendid Hardangerfjord. Your first landfall is atthe village of Ulvik where those passengers taking the overland tour disembark andrejoin the ship during the afternoon. Cruise the short passage into the small fjordthat bears the name of the village of Eidfjord, your next port of call. From here, wejourney into the mighty Sogne. Maybe visit the Agadir

Grand Souk, the largest covered market in the area.Next is Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Thisvolcanic island offers extraordinary moon-likelandscapes, used as the location for many famousfilms. The lava fields are best seen from the slopesof Fire Mountain in the Timanfays National Park.Cruising to your next destination, Santa Cruz,

(Tenerife), situated in a large natural bay, with an impressive backdrop of the AnagaMountains. EXPLORE THE SPLENDOUR OF

Scandinavia & Russia’sImperial PastThis cruise of contrasts between the ‘old world’ of the Scandinaviankingdoms and the ‘new world’ of the emergent former communist statesof Russia, East Germany and Estonia offers the opportunity for you todiscover the modern day pleasures of the countries bordering the BalticSea. Visits to the lovely capitals of Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinkiare beautifully complimented by cheerful Warnemunde, picturesqueTallinn and of course, incomparable St Petersburg.

From Tilbury, Marco Polo heads through the Kiel Canalbound for Warnemunde, now an international resortin Northern Germany, where the long call here allowsthe opportunity for a full day excursion to Berlin.Medieval Tallinn, a delight with an old town boastingsuch quaint names as Long Leg Street or Tall Hermann,is the precursor to a two day stay in St Petersburg, home to many of the artistic and architectural treasures

of Russia’s imperial past. The fabulous Hermitage, Catherine Palace, St Isaac’sCathedral and Peterhof all demand attention but even the long stay here is barelysufficient to view even a proportion of all the sights. A carefully planned, but intensiveexcursion programme that also covers evening activities ensures that you might see asmuch as possible. Next is Helsinki, where the spectacular onion-domed UspenskyCathedral dominates the harbour. Stockholm, built across waterways and a mazeof islands boasts elegant shops and the enchanting medieval Gamla Stan. Then ontoCopenhagen, rich in culture and tradition with the Stroget and the famous ‘Den LilleHavfrue’ – The Little Mermaid – as prime attractions, complete your cruise of contrasts. An early morning transit of the Kiel Canal heralds a final day at sea before Tilbury.
