Childhood and Educational Background

Wilson was born in Staunton,Virginia in 1856. He spent most of his childhood in Augusta, Georgia up to the

age 14. He was home schooled and didn't learn to read until he was

12. He went to Davidson College in 1873, and then transfered to

Princeton and graduated in 1879. Wilson also practiced law at the University of Virginia.

Family and Social Life His grandparents were from Ireland and immigrated to the

U.S. His mother, Janet Woodrow was from London and his father

Joseph Wilson was from Ohio. His father was a founder of the Presbyterian Church in the

United States during the 1860's. He suffered from dyslexia and A.D.D. Wilson was the founder of the Liberal Debating Society at

Princeton.

Professional Life Wilson was a professor at Wesleyan University in

Connecticut. He then went to Princeton University to teach law. He was an author of numerous history and government books. He became Princeton's University president in 1902.

Political Life and Presidency Wilson ran for governor of New Jersey in 1910 and won by a

large margin. He ran for president against Roosevelt and Taff and won. He built the Federal Reserve System in 1913. Wilson made the “Fourteen Points” for peace with Europe

during World War I.

Post Presidency Wilson suffered a stroke in 1919 making him incapacitated. Retired in Washington D.C. He later died on February 3, 1924. His known achievement was winning the Nobel Peace Prize

for being the founder of the League of Nations.
