Step 1: Fully insert the deepest kerf of edge “A”, the access kerf, onto the exposed grid flange.

Step 2: Raise the “B” edge of the panel, the registration kerf, into the grid opening until the kerf lines up with the grid flange.

Relative humidity between 25% and 55%, and temperatures between 50˚F and 86˚F, must be maintained throughout the life of the product.

Installation ConsiderationSystem is designed to have a 1" gap between panels. Backer clip can only be used for installation of interior-only panels.

Design Considerations It is very important that WoodWorks panels are climatized prior to installation. Relative humidity between 25% and 55%, and temperatures between 50˚F and 86˚F, must be maintained. Exposed, unpainted back of Axiom® trim may be visible when using higher trims on full-size panel installation only.

Fire Performance Solid Poplar Hardwood – Class C ASTM E84 surface burning characteristics. Flame Spread Index 200 or less. Smoke Developed Index 450 or less. WoodWorks® Open Cell panels, as with other architectural features located at the ceiling, may obstruct or skew the planned fire sprinkler water distribution pattern, or possibly delay or accelerate the activation of the sprinkler or fire detection systems by channeling heat from a fire either toward or away from the device.

THE CHALLENGE:

The feel of the new Miami Cancer Institute was designed to reflect a warm Mediterranean style. The

desire was to create a friendly, hospitality-type feel such as you would find in a fine spa or hotel. Inspired by the

connections to nature found in the surrounding landscape, the design team selected natural materials for the interior, creating

a comforting environment for patients and their families.

THE SOLUTION:

Reinforcing the connection to nature, the lobbies and corridors are infused with natural light and feature WoodWorks® Linear

Veneered ceiling panels in a Constants™ Cherry finish. The custom 2-foot-by-5-foot wood panels were designed specifically for the cancer

institute by the You Inspire™ Solutions Center at Armstrong Ceiling & Wall Solutions. Each of the panels is made up of three different widths of

wood planks with a narrow reveal between each plank, creating a unique linear visual that aligns directionally with the corridors.

The WoodWorks® Linear Veneered ceiling panels provide patients and their families with a quieting connection to nature that helps in the healing

process while also serving to help with navigation around the building.
