Presentation by Robin Wilson, CEO and Founder, Robin Wilson Home, at the Inaugural Office Depot Foundation Women’s Symposium on October 7, 2014 Robin Wilson is an eco-friendly interior designer and a lifestyle brand with products sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, and is the first woman with a branded line of custom kitchen and bath cabinetry sold by over 400 dealers nationwide. She was first featured in Oprah’s magazines and her work and brand has been featured in national press such as House Beautiful, Elle Décor, Esquire, Essence, and Natural Homes & Gardens, among others. Robin Wilson is an advocate for clean construction methods, with clients that have included the Harlem office of President Clinton, the White House Fellows office, private homes, developers and consultation with a leading international hotel. Her design firm continues to handle select projects across the country. She is an ambassador to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, on the board of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, and has partnered with consumer products giant Panasonic to promote its latest line of cutting edge products for the home. In May 2013, her furniture line, Nest Home by Robin Wilson, premiered at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York. She is author of IPPY award winning Kennedy Green House (Greenleaf, 2010) and regularly appears on the speakers’ circuit, on television and offers commentary in print on design, wellness, sustainability and allergy and asthma issues. Wilson believes in giving back, and recently completed a two year project called Eco Bungalow – LA, where she rounded up a team of design, construction and furnishing professionals to help build a home for a family who lost everything in a devastating house fire. Imagine the holiday season, with a fully decorated home. Your child brings home an art project – a -menorah – and you light it and leave the room, little to know that it was not fire-safe.
A few minutes later, the flames appear and your family must run outside with pajamas!
After 22 months of living in three different rental locations with parents, three children, grandmother, and pets – the family moves back into their completed home which had to be rebuilt, and furnished from the flooring to the furniture to the toothbrushes.
