Dear Alumnae/Women’s Soccer Fans,

We are really excited about our upcoming women’s soccer season. Our pre-season trainingbegan on August 5th. Our girls’ first training wasa midnight cooper test (12 minute run). It was afun way to start off our season and our girls reallystepped up this year by coming in more preparedand fit than they have ever been. This has alreadyallowed us to really get to work and prepare for what will be an exciting non-conference schedulefacing many great teams in the Midwest region. Look for returners Dominique Locascio and Michelle Scandora to really lead our team in the center of the field. Newcomers Chelsea Grant, Kelly Blumberg and Claire Hanold are all making an impact in our trainings on a daily basis. Although I mentioned a few names, our success will really be a full team effort and everyone on and off the field will be contributing in some way.

We have some exciting home matches this year and hope that you will come out and support our team. We hope to put ourselves in a position to have a really successful run in BIG EAST play.

Thanks and Go Blue Demons.

The Professionals...Julianne Sitch (’06) and Erin Walter (’06) continued their soccer careers after DePaul and are now competing in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league.

Erin plays for the St. Louis Athletica and is making history, having competed in its inaugural regular season. Her team enters the playoffs at the No. 2 spot, behind the Los Angeles Sol.

Julianne plays for Sky Blue FC (New Jersey) and her team enters the playoffs ranked fourth. On the field Julianne has done a great job establishing herself and has started more than half of the regular season games.

Good luck to Erin and Julianne as they compete for the WPS championship!

In addition to our alumnae success on the field, men’s soccer alum Jack Cum-mins is part of the ownership group for the WPS’s Chicago Red Stars.
