Women’s Role in the Church
Single Ladies
Philippians 4:1-3
A Story of a Tragic Car Accident
A father and son were involved in a car accident. The father was pronounced dead at the scene as his child was rushed off in an ambulance. Upon arrival at the hospital, the son was moved quickly to surgery. Orderlies, nurses and doctors reacted with the awareness that every second counted.
As the surgeon donned gloves and mask, however, the unexpected happened. Looking into the face of the boy for the first time, the doctor looked away saying, “I can’t operate. This patient is my son!” Alarm spread among the surgical attendants. How could this be? The boy’s father had died.
Many who hear this story for the first time find it confusing. The doctor’s reaction doesn’t seem to make sense. The son was not adopted and never had more than one father. Few guess quickly that…
The surgeon was the victim’s mother!
Many in our day are wondering to what extent such cultural perception has also shaped our ways of women in ministry.
Defining the Roles of Women in the Ministry
Equality of Men and Women in the Church
We are all called to salvation and service. Together, we are called ot ministry – to serve God and to serve one another in the attitude of Christ.
Headship in the Church
The principles of divine order remain to be followed based on the biblical truths. (1 Corinthians 11:3)
Problem Situation
When faced with failures of leadership, the Scriptures make it clear that God does not ask us to follow a bad example. He does, however, ask us to be willing to live with a bad example if necessary and even to fulfill our own obligation to those leaders whose judgment we question.
Problem Situation
If there is a mishandled leadership, and we fear that things would get worse if the things do not change, then we should only look unto Jesus. He is the solution for leadership wherever it lands (1 Corinthians 11:24-27).
Numbers 12
1. This is the account of Aaron and Miriam complaining about the Ethiopian woman their brother Moses had married.from the hour of announcement – from the time a Christian got saved
Great Contributions of Women of the Bible
1. Miriam
She was a prophetess, and along with her brother Moses and Aaron shared the leadership of Israel (Micah 6:4).
2. Deborah
She was a prophetess and judge of Israel who resolved disputes with the wisdom of God (Judge 4:4).
3. Abigail
Distinguished herself when she acted against the wishes of her evil husband, Nabal, and thereby behaved herself and household (1 Samuel 25).
3. Esther
She was a queen who, by her courage and cleverness, was used by God to save her people.
4. Huldah
She was a prophetess of Israel who spoke words of judgment to a delegation of men that included Hilkiah the priest (2 Kings 22:14-15).
5. Priscilla
Her husband Aquila achieved honorable mention when together they taught Apollos the doctrine of Christ (Acts 18:26).
6. Phoebe
She was recognized by Paul as a servant and helper not only to the church at Cenchrea but to him as well (Rom 16:1)
7. Junia
She is possibly a woman who along with Andronicus is said by Paul to be “of note among the apostles”. Older than Paul in the faith (Rom 16:7).
8. Mary, the sister of Lazarus
She was commended by the Lord Jesus for prioritizing HIM unlike her sister who busied herself with things she thought would please the Lord. Her testimony will be remembered for generations to come.

What is important is for us ladies to get ourselves busy in getting more ladies come to know Jesus as their Lord and Personal Savior, discipling them to be ministers to a greater population of women in our community, if not the whole world.
