Television
In the 1950’s, television portrayed women as the common “housewife”.
It was saying that the woman’s job was only to cook, clean, and raise children.

Role they played
In the 1950’s women played the supporting role for their husbands lives in the public sphere.
They kept house, cooked meals, and raised the children

Career/Education
They help paying jobs. But it wasn’t all about making money. They wanted to be able to buy items that were apart of the media saying of, “The Good Life”.
Teen girls had some opportunities like college, but most stayed at home to be a mother.
How Women Felt
Lots of women were frustrated with the stereotypical role during the 1950’s
Many women wanted to hold a good paying job which would make them feel more independent.
