How Women Got Involved in War All women who served in the war

were voluntary. Also some women in the military

asked to go to Vietnam but some were sent against there wishes.

Jobs Women Had In The War There were many jobs for women in the

war. These jobs consist of support staff in

hospitals, crewed on medical evacuation flights, with MASH unit, operation groups information offices and numerous clerical, medical, intelligence, and personnel positions.

Women were treated as second class soldiers during war.

Women Also Suffered In War

Women suffered as much as men during war and were often in the line of fire from rockets and mortars.

Number of Women That Participated or Were Killed Little or no data exists on the

women who served that were injured or killed.

7,484 women served in Vietnam. 4,000 women served on active

military duty. Over 60 civilian and non-civilian

women were killed.

Vietnam War Memorial There were 58,261 names on the

wall and that only included 8 women.

They didn’t forget about the women they dedicated a memorial to the women only.

Even though many women served in the war there were women who protested against the war.

Mothers During The War Most mothers were against the war

because when there husbands and sons went to war the mothers and younger children were left to suffer.
