Self-confessed late-night shopper Kate, 43, has spent the last two years creating TBSeen – a new cashback website especially for

women. Presenter Kate has joined forces with 11 of her celebrity friends (including Myleene Klass, Denise Van Outen and Tamzin Outhwaite) to work as brand ambassadors offering their expert advice. Here, the determined mum-of-one, who even became the office cleaner for a while to help ensure the project took off, reveals how you don’t have to spend a fortune to look good…

Do you feel under pressure to look a certain way?No, only you can make yourself feel that. Of course, it’s a bit of a shock when you look in the mirror and say, ‘Really? Who’s that old woman?’ But I am getting older and that’s a fact of life. There’s nothing you can do to change it. You have to embrace it!

Would you ever consider surgery?I’m absolutely scared out of my tiny mind over it… although, saying that, I’d never say never. Surgery may claim it’s way at one point and you may see me walking around with less of a chin than I’ve got at the moment. But I know if I say no emphatically to surgery, then I will look like the Bride of Wildenstein in a few years…

Do you have a stylist?Gemma Shanley and Sinead McKeefry who work on TBSeen have been dressing us all for years. Patsy O’Neill does my make-up and she now works on the site – we met in 1998. I met Justine Jenkins on MTV. She’s been doing make-up with the girls for years and is amazing. They’re all brilliant.

Does this mean you’re turning your back on TV presenting?Not at all. But this project has completely consumed the last two years of my life. People keep saying, ‘You’re not working much at the moment, are you?’ and I think, ‘I haven’t stopped!’

And expert beauty advice is a big part of the site…Heidi Range [ex-Sugababes] came up with a great idea. We want to film us putting our own make-up on, with our beauty experts sat next to us taking notes about where we are going wrong and then correcting it!

Do you think some women can get stuck in a style rut?Listen, I recently saw a picture of me when I was the Editor of Smash Hits. I was 21 and I’ve got exactly the same haircut as I’m wearing today! I’m also wearing the same make-up – we all do it. But I’m lucky to have these creative friends that go, ‘Try this, do this.’ So now we’re putting it on camera and passing on the advice.

Do you spend a lot of money on make-up?I have really freckly skin so I do splash out on a good base, but I never spend a lot on lipsticks – Barry M do brilliant colours. Lipsticks should be disposable, a bit like nail varnish – you can be quite faddy with them. I love different shades of blushers – some are really cheap and cheerful.

What product could you not live without?Nivea – I use it all over. It’s so good. And I must have the driest skin in the world as I put it on and it eats it! I’ve also started using primer. I’d describe that as the underwire bra for your face – it holds everything up. I use one with an SPF from Dermalogica, which is great for sensitive skin.

Do you take any supplements for your skin?No, I just drink loads of water. Although I don’t drink enough – I have too much coffee at the moment.
