Hello all – here is the news from the shop and world of Harley-Davidson!

Firstly, apologies for the delay in the loyalty card which is doubling as the Chapter membership card. On it you will find a continually updated gallery, new and used bike information, clothing, shiny parts and workshop news. We will be having an online shop within the next month so you armchair browsers will be able to pick and choose by remote.

The all-new Sportster ‘48’

Better known as the XL1200X, the new 48 should be in-store by the time you read this. With huge interest and orders taken so far, the bike is looking to be the big news for 2010. As Harley say,

‘The Sportster-inspired bike is ideal for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts who like the idea of riding a custom motorcycle, but don't have the time to spend on customisation...

Riding low and featuring the classic 7.95 litre "peanut" fuel tank, the Forty-Eight backs up its bulldog appearance with the performance of its blacked and polished rubber-mounted Evolution™ 1200 cc V-Twin engine. The low solo seat, under-bar mounted mirrors, clean rear fender and fat balloon tyres emphasise the Forty Eight's focus on chiselled customisation. ’

XR1200 Race Series

The Henderson race series is now in full flow and we are proud to announce 3 bikes entered and representing us as the ‘Stratstone Race Team’. The series will be based at 5 locations and 7 races alongside the British Superbike Championship. We will have tickets available with pit passes, VIP access and assorted activity throughout the season. Kicking off at Oulton Park on 1-3 May, the series, which is officially supported by Harley-Davidson UK and Ireland, is designed to showcase the performance capabilities of the XR1200 motorcycle. Development riders, including experienced British motorcycle racers Niall Mackenzie, Sean Emmett and Matt Llewellyn, have all been impressed by the XR1200's performance on track, and their positive feedback has set the scene for what is expected to be a series packed with close and exciting racing.

With the first official test for the 2010 British Superbike Championship (BSB) and its support classes looming closer, many XR1200 Trophy competitors are looking forward to the first opportunity for testing their race bike at the official BSB test at Brands Hatch on 17 March. Move around

You may have seen the display move around in the store. We are trying to achieve a better walk around experience for you bringing the clothing centre-stage and also putting Tourer bikes next to Tourer accessories and clothing etc. I hope you find the display easier to navigate around – we like it and I hope you do too.

Lowest Price Servicing

For a while now, I have spoken with some of you about the costs of servicing and our intention to provide excellent service along with realistic service prices. We are now pushing the boundaries even further with a commitment to providing the lowest priced servicing and tyre supply. We will be researching the local dealerships – both Harley and non-Harley to provide a like-for-like lower cost to you. Hopefully, this will settle the ‘big dealership’ mentality and make sure that your service book remains with the professional stamp that it deserves.

Summary

We have had a gloomy past few months with ridiculous amounts of snow and cold weather. As I look out of the window, I can see some sun and feel the busy times approaching. I am as you know, excited by the changes in the Chapter and looking forward to joining you on some rides this year in a calendar which is more involved and busier than it has ever been.
