He next turned towards opera writing. In the last five years of his life, he composed 5 operas (The Marriage of Figaro 1786, Don Giovanni 1787 and The Magic Flute 1791)
In November of 1791, while working on a Requiem Mass, (Mass for the Dead) Mozart became ill.
