Sunday, January 30 2010

12:00 noon to 4:00 pm

In 2009, the Waterloo Wolves teamed up with Hero to Hero. Hero to Hero matches emergency services personnel and sports teams with Canadian troops serving overseas.

The personnel or teams from Canada send autographed shirts and other goodies to the troops, showing their support for the members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Wolves donated 2 team jerseys, autographed by all of the players on the 2009-2010 roster. Each player also signed a tshirt, a tennis ball (for ball hockey on the army bases), and wrote short notes to the troops. A banner was at Wolves‘ home games and was signed by players, coaching staff, parents, sponsors, and members of the general public.

Twenty cases (3600) of Piller‘s Pepstix and City of Waterloo lapel pins will also be shipped overseas in special, environmentally friendly

bags. These items were presented to a member of the Canadian Armed Forces at the last home game of the regular season. The items

from the Wolves were then shipped to members of the Forces all over the world, including those in Afghanistan.

Watch the Wolves‘ website for more details as they develop. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Waterloo Wolves and Hero to Hero

We would like to thank everyone who supported Wolf-a-mania 3, from the sponsors, parents, families, friends, fans and colleagues to the players, coaching staff, and the Midget Operating Committee.

The evening was a resounding success, with a beautiful location, fantastic meal (thank you, staff at St. George‘s Hall on King Street in Waterloo), great music with Coming of Age, and incredible silent & live auctions.

An extra-special thank you to Wolf-a-mania 3 organizers Michele Way, Vicki Eckert and Diana Villatoro! Your tireless work and enthusiasm make Wolf-a-mania the successful annual event it is!

And of course, Willy & Marnie Huber, who have made the Waterloo Wolves one of the best Midget AAA organizations in the country! GO WOLVES!!

On Friday, November 5, New Hamburg Fire-

birds‘ Trainer, Greg Henning (pictured left with

linesman Kevin Brown), was awarded the OHA

Crystal Puck Award.

The Crystal Puck Award is presented in recogni-

tion of an individual‘s outstanding achievement or

contribution within the association.

In December 2009, Henning took the lead in car-

ing for linesman, Kevin Brown, who had sus-

tained a life-threatening injury during a game.

Brown and his entire family from Sebringville

attended the November 5th New Hamburg Fire-

birds‘ game to present the award to Henning for

his role in saving Brown‘s life and to recognize his

achievements and contributions in the OHA and Alliance Hockey over the last decade.

A level III trainer, Henning has been involved in minor and junior hockey for almost 15 years. From 2004 to 2009, Henning

acted as the Wolves‘ trainer. He was awarded ―Trainer of the Year‖ by Alliance Hockey in June 2010.

Henning believes ―Once a Wolf, always a Wolf‖, coming to as many games as he can and backing-up current Wolves‘ trainer

Rob Stuart, as needed.

The OHA thanks Greg Henning: ―A true professional in every manner, Greg Henning has become a model trainer for all

those around the league, the association and the sporting world. Congratulations, Greg!‖

Canzi Leading the League in Scoring

Former Wolves' Trainer Receives Crystal Puck Award

The Waterloo Wolves‘ players have started the season

strongly. Team Captain, Evan Canzi, is (as of Decem-

ber 2, 2010) leading the league in scoring with 8 goals

and 30 assists.

Tied for 4th in scoring are Christian Mroczkowski and

Trevor Sauder with 26 points. Blake Hetherington is

close behind his fellow Wolves‘ in the 6th spot with 24

points. Mroczkowski leads the league with the most

goals at 19.

In goaltending, Jordan Witt is in a tie for 3rd with 8

wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie.

Overall, the Wolves are lying in 3rd place in the league,

with London and Cambridge taking the top two spots.

However, only 1 point separates each ranking.

Congratulations to all Wolves on a great beginning to

the 2010-2011 season!
