    The WNC Passenger Rail Initiative is a long term partnership between several municipalities in the region and the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Rail Division. The proposed service will connect Asheville to the Amtrak station in Salisbury, NC. The purpose of this initiative is to enhanceRegional and local economic development, and to improve the states transportation infrastructure.
