WL SPORTING

WL Sporting is a partnership between the Richmond-Watson family of the West London Shooting School and Willie Cole and Louise Gränne of Cole Shooting Services.

The West London Shooting School, established in 1901, is arguably the premiere shooting school in the UK with its simulated driven game shooting from high to-wers and realistic grouse butts. With the Percy Stanbury technique, recognised as being the most elegant and efficient of all shooting styles, the West London Shooting School has become the favourite shooting ground for many guns that strive to perfect their performance in the field of game shooting.

Willie Cole, a highly experienced instructor and former manager at West London Shooting School, has spent ten years as estate manager at Ashcombe in Wiltshire making it one of the very best high bird shoots in Britain. With over 40 years expertise in the shooting world, he and Louise Gränne head up WL Sporting together.

All in all we have over 150 years of instruction and shooting knowledge behind us giving WL Sporting unrivalled experience and connections in the field. We have exclusive access to shooting estates in the UK and overseas all of which have been previously viewed by WL Sporting and many that have never before been on any sporting agency’s inventory.

Through WL Sporting a team of guns or individuals will be assured premiere service and be able to draw on all the resources of the West London Shooting School. Guns, cartridges and clothing can also be delivered to the shoot from our extensive stock at the West London Gun Room.

WL Sporting will tailor days to your requirements from transportation, accom-modation, guns, cartridges, loaders and instructors to assure that each client will have the highest standard of personal care and attention.

WL Sporting has access to some of the finest sporting estates in the UK. For full teams we tailor the day to all specific requests and requirements.

Full Team Days

We run a tailored and comprehensivegame shooting service for full teamsWL Sporting full team days consist of eight or nine guns (unless shooting driven grouse). This is a bespoke service where we strive to fulfil all your requests and requirements.

We will locate estates in areas where you would like to shoot, follow a budget to your request and select estates with the height of birds that suits your team’s shooting ability for example. We source two or three estates within your request and present them to you, offering you our advice and help to choose between them.

On a full team day you benefit not only from choosing the location, budget and height of birds, but also from the fact that you can choose to have loaders, stuf-fers or shoot as single guns. Depending on estate and time of the year, you can generally choose from stopping for lunch or shooting through and having a late lunch.

WL Sporting will host the day, arrange transportation, find accommodation, provide guns and cartridges and arrange loaders/stuffers for the day. At prefe-rential rates, we arrange a West London Shooting School instructor for the day to assist either an individual or the whole team.

On our syndicate days we assist guns of similar shooting experience and ability in finding estates that present suitable birds for the day.

Syndicate Days

We provide selected estatesfor our syndicate daysWL Sporting syndicate days bring individual guns together. We organise and design days for all levels of shooting ability, from the lesser experienced to the more experienced shots.

For the lesser experienced shots our syndicate days are a great way to experience a day in the field and to get started in their shooting career. We select estates that present pheasants or partridges of a challenging nature without demoralising the guns by shooting at seriously high birds.

WL Sporting can provide guns and loan equipment on these days. If we are to provide a gun, we recommend that you visit the West London Shooting School prior to your shoot day to confirm that you have a gun that fits you and you feel comfortable with.

For the experienced shots our syndicate days will be the perfect way to enjoy a day in the field or to invite a guest. Let us do all the planning for you; quarry, quality of birds, bag size, location etc. Just enjoy your shooting with likeminded guns that are as passionate about their sport as you are.

On syndicate days, we always include in the price a shooting instructor from the West London Shooting School on hand to assist the syndicate on the day. At a preferential rate, an individual gun can book a shooting instructor to have personal tuition in the field on a one to one basis for the day.

WL Sporting would like to intro-duce more ladies to the world of game shooting. Therefore, we ar-range days specifically for ladies.

Ladies Days are designed to be both educational and fun and are arranged on selected shooting estates that present challenging but shootable birds, as we all enjoy hitting something and gain confidence from doing so.

On our Ladies Days you will be taught the etiquette of shooting as well as the safety aspects you need to consider when being in the game field.

An instructor from the West London Shooting School will be on hand to assist the team on the day. Also, if a lady wishes to have personal in-field shooting instruc-tion on the day then this can be arranged at preferential rates.

On Ladies Days, WL Sporting will supply guns, cartridges and other equipment necessary for the dayif requested.

Young Shots, experience a day in the field

Are you aged between 13 and 19 and love shooting? If so, come and join our specially designed Young Shots Days. The Young guns will be taught the eti-quette of shooting as well as the safety aspects you need to consider when be-ing in the game field surrounded by beaters and pickers up. You will be taught the gun handling, safety, stance, approach to the bird and bird selection.

Instructors from the West London Shooting School will be on hand to assist the young guns on the day. Also, if a young shot wishes to have personal instruc-tion on a one to one basis on the day then this can be arranged at preferential rates. On Young Shots days, WL Sporting will supply guns, cartridges and other equipment necessary for the day if requested.

Instruction in the Field

Instruction in the field is educational from teaching the newcomer the world of game shooting to teaching awareness of the beaters and pickers up and the etiquette of shooting. Having personal tuition is equally beneficial for an experienced shot, for example in honing his/her shooting skills to become more consistent with the art of bird selection and footwork.

On the shooting school, a qualified instructor can teach you the gun handling, safety, stance and approach to the target. However, in the field it is more in-volved knowing just when to start your approach to your shot at a game bird. Also, bird selection for example sounds easy until you are confronted with a flush of birds approaching you all at the same time. This is when it is beneficial to have an experienced instructor beside you.
