A HUGE well done to all the children in Years 3-6 who entertained us all with this year’s production. I am sure you will agree they did amazingly well to learn all those lines and songs in a short few weeks; we are so very proud of them all and hope that you all enjoyed the show. Thank you so much to parents for supplying such wonderful costumes and to all the staff involved for their hours of work and preparation. Thank you also for your generous contributions to our drama collection at the end of each performance – we will have a total for you next week. There will soon be photographs on the school website for you to relive the magic all over again ~ well done children, what stars you are! Induction Day Today Today all children have spent part of the day with their new classes and teachers in preparation for September. We also welcome our new teachers for September, Mrs Weston and Mrs Pateman. I am sure the children will have lots to tell you about it. We have also welcomed our new children and families who will be starting in Reception in September and are looking forward to hearing how the Year 6 children got on at their new secondary schools too. A reminder that the Leavers Service takes place in Church at 2.15pm NEXT WEDNESDAY. Parents and families of all children, not just those of children leaving, are welcome to attend. As usual, the Governors will be serving teas in the school hall after the service for Year 6 children and their parents. Annual Reports to Parents If you have not yet returned your acknowledgment slip for your child’s report, please could you do so as soon as possible, but definitely before the end of term. Thank you. Payments A reminder please that any outstanding payments should be made to the office by MONDAY 16 TH JULY. Mrs Rule has to close down the accounts before the summer holidays so it is really important that monies and payments are up to date. All dinner money debts have to be passed to county at the end of term so these must be cleared fully. Many thanks for your cooperation. Well done Year 6! If you have noticed that the Year 6 children have big smiles on their faces this week, it’s because they received their SATs results and we couldn’t be more proud of how well they have done: Reading: 88% at the expected standard (or above) 38% at the higher standard Writing: 88% at the expected standard (or above) 29% at the higher standard Maths: 71% at the expected standard (or above) 17% at the higher standard GPS: 79% at the expected standard (or above) 29% at the higher standard A big well done to them and thanks to Mrs Stewart for preparing them so well for the tests. Leavers v Staff Rounders Match On Monday 16 th July, weather permitting, the staff and Year 6 children will be going head to head in an end of year rounders match. This will take place straight after school at the field and you are all very welcome to come along and cheer everyone on. The match should start at 3.30pm and we estimate will last an hour at the very most. If you bring younger children or pre-schoolers, please ensure that they do not run around too close to the pitch as some of those Year 6s can hit that rounders ball a long way and we don’t want any casualties! More sports well dones! Congratulations to Chloe in Class 5 who placed 3 rd at the national trampoline finals last weekend – to be in the top three of the entire country is such a phenomenal achievement and much deserved after the hours of committed training she puts in. Well done Chloe! Our KS2 rounders team played to defend their title of current champions last week - they came first, so continue to reign for 2018! Year 2 also played in the KS1 rounders tournament yesterday – and they won as well! Huge congratulations to them all. What a way to ‘round off’ (!) a fabulous year of sporting achievements. End of term fast approaching! It’s hard to believe that the end of term is just around the corner. We finish for the summer NEXT THURSDAY 19 th at the earlier time of 2pm. Please note that Year 6 will be coming out of the back of the school and up the driveway with Mrs Stewart instead of their usual exit. Headteacher
