1945, in Mumbai by Mohamed Premji as
'Western India Vegetable Products Limited’.
later abbreviated to 'Wipro'. It was initially set up
as a manufacturer of vegetable and refined
oils in Amalner,district Jalgaon, Maharashtra,
under the trade names of Kisan, Sunflower and
Camel.
The company logo still contains a sunflower to
reflect products of the original business.
In the year 1966 Azim Premji took over the
leadership of company and transformed Wipro into
consumer goods company.
In 1975 Wipro fluid power was set up.
1980 moved into softwere development.

SITUATION : Large amount of solid waste on
daily basis at Wipro’s Electronic City Campus.
Opportunity : Manage solid waste.
Eco-Solution : BIO-MANTHANATION plant,
currently 4 Biogas plants are operated by Wipro.
Eco Imapct : Large amount of bio-gas and good
quality manure is generated, sludge and treated in
eco friendly manner.
Situation : Harsh chemical used
Opportunity : Chemicals to have Eco friendly
property.
Eco-Solution : Use of non pollutants Bio
degradable etc.
Eco-Impact : Reduced exposure to harmful
chemicals.
