I’m an Eagle Owl; one of the largest owls in the

world!

Eagle Owls have a body length of 24 - 29 inches, a wingspan of 5 - 6 feet, and weigh 3 1/2 - 9 pounds. They usually hunt at night from a perch, or while flying low over the ground or tree-tops. Prey is captured on the ground, in the air, or after plunging into water.

The Northern blue-tongued skink, Tiliqua scincoides intermedia, grows to 24 inches. It is the largest of the blue-tongued lizards. It inhabits forests, woodlands, and grasslands of Northern Australia. It is diurnal, ground dwelling and feeds on insects, snails, fruits, berries and wildflowers. They find shelter at night in hollow logs and ground debris.

Golden eagles are a magnificent sight in Britain, although not a common one. Heavily persecuted in the past, these birds are now gradually increasing in number with 400 breeding pairs thought to be in Scotland at present. Pairs mate for life, using just one nest site year after year. Wonderful aerial courtship displays are performed with plunging and looping flights, and although these birds are most often seen soaring high on thermals, they also practice the art of ambushing their quarry from near ground level.
