With the world of technology constantly evolving, the way we enjoy our movie and TV programing changes with it. Here at BWTelcom, we have been actively educating our local communities about OTT or Over-the-Top services and how to go about using them. Many people are hesitant about turning to an Internet connection to replace their satellite or cable service, though streaming services have made their amenities incredibly user-friendly and a great alternative with the proper Internet speed. A streaming service like Netfl ix is an On-Demand service, off ering a huge library of prerecorded content that viewers can watch at their convenience. There are more cable-like services, such as DIRECTV Now which has live content identical to their satellite service, but also some On-Demand content. OTT services like DIRECTV Now, Hulu Live, Sling TV, and many more off er live, local programing, but availability depends on the viewer’s physical location. These services also typically require a faster Internet speed in order to stream live content compared to on-demand services. OTT services often cost less than traditional Cable TV or satellite service, and most services are on monthly subscriptions, meaning customers are able to come and go as they please. Viewers can even have several diff erent streaming service subscriptions and still pay less than cable or satellite charges! Having a streaming device makes OTT services possible to enjoy on nearly any TV. Those who do not own a Smart TV fi nd devices like Rokus or Amazon Fire TV Sticks a great alternative, which are also much more cost eff ective. BWTelcom now carries a full stock of diff erent brands and types of streaming devices to make streaming OTT services much more convenient. Certain services are not compatible with some devices, so BWTelcom recommends that viewers do some research on compatible devices and services before purchasing, along with checking into the minimum Internet speed requirements for an optimal streaming experience. People can also call BWTelcom with any questions about services or device details.
