It’s A Bugs’ Life!

June 11 to 16 @ the Library

Watch our butterflies and ants grow, change, and tunnel. Learn all about different insects and then visit a librarian for your own “growing” insect. How big will your insect grow? Stop in all week.

Join Lucy Diggins-Wold from Wyoming Game and Fish and explore being a wildlife scientist. Please wear proper footwear for running and becoming animals!

Dinosaur ROAR!!!

Dinosaurs have taken over the library! Stop in throughout the week and dig up some dinosaur fun. Don’t forget to visit a librarian for your own toy dinosaur egg this week.

Celebrate superheroes all week at the library. Stop in for an activity and the chance to win a super prize basket!

Karaoke Party

Titanic Exploration

Library 5K Run/Walk — Saturday, August 11

The Sweetwater County Library Foundation presents its first Library 5K Run/Walk. Run from White Mountain Library to Rock Springs Library on August 11 as the culminating event for Summer Reading! Register at White Mountain Library, Rock Springs Library, or the Sweetwater County Library prior to the run, or at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. Registration is $20 per person or $35 for a family of up to 4. The run starts at 9:30 a.m. All proceeds benefit library reading programs.

Douglas Ross: The Oregon Trail

June 1 – July 14

Ross traveled the trail and captured the land that settlers passed through in his paintings. Opening Reception is Friday, June 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Ron Bohleen: Wooden Wagons

Ron has duplicated perfectly proportioned, horse-drawn wagons, stage coaches and sleds in miniature. As a working rancher most of his life, he draws on his experience to craft these works of art. Reception tba.

Sweetwater Blues n’ Brews

August 11

Blues music, microbrews and great food in Bunning Park! The CFAC sponsors one of the performers for this all-day event held by the Rock Springs URA. Bring your lawn chair and relax in beautiful Bunning Park while listen-ing to live music all day long. Microbrews from Wyoming and surrounding areas and local food vendors provide refreshments.

Knitting Basics and More

Thursdays — 4 to 6 p.m.

Free open knit class for beginning and experienced knitters. Each month we focus on a new technique or project.

June – Charity knitting is the topic. You can decide to knit a chemo cap, Mother Bear Project bear, baby blankets, or for any other worthy cause. We meet for World Wide Knit in Public Day on June 16 and will be supporting the Wyoming Alzheimer’s Association Fundraising Walk.

July – Our theme of Christmas in July focuses on decorations or gift making to get a start on handknit holiday items.

August – Pull out those WIPs and UFOs to finish or frog and get ready for new projects in the Fall!

Kids’ Classes

ArtCamp

June 4 to 7 & June 11 to 14

Co-sponsored with Sweetwater BOCES, ArtCamp is four days of making art for 5th through 9th grade students. A variety of projects give the participants an in-depth creative experience and is taught by Pame-la Sipe and Nathan Wonnacott, art instruc-tors from Sweetwater School District #1. All materials provided with $30 fee. Students only need to bring a sack lunch and their enthusiasm to learn! Register at the CFAC.

Create art inspired by famous artists in various medium. Free art lessons for 1st through 4th graders. Registration required.

Knitting for Tweens

Learn the basics of knitting to make a dishcloth and a hat. Students will bring their own supplies and must be ready for homework!
