Winter 2020 “Prayer might not change your circumstances, but it will always change you” Do you ever feel that you donʼt know what to pray? We know that we are supposed to be in constant communication with God, but sometimes the words feel that they donʼt reach — that we cannot communicate the full extent of what we are feeling inside. Luckily, it isnʼt cheating to use a prayer that has been written down or spoken previously. What matters is the heart behind what we are saying and that our intentions are to grow closer to God. As we transition into this new year, letʼs remember to keep God in our hearts and others in our prayers. “Dear God, I pray for your strength today as I step into the world. Give me your eyes so that I can see all that there is to see. Give me your ears, so that I listen in- tently for every morsel of instruction. Give me your heart, so that I learn to be more compassionate. Thank you for your grace and mercy which you hand out freely every day. Lord, wrap your loving arms around those who need it most to- day, and give them peace. Amen.”

“Prayer might not change your circumstances, but it will always change you”

Do you ever feel that you donʼt know what to pray? We know that we are supposed to be in constant communication with God, but sometimes the words feel that they donʼt reach — that we cannot communicate the full extent of what we are feeling inside. Luckily, it isnʼt cheating to use a prayer that has been written down or spoken previously. What matters is the heart behind what we are saying and that our intentions are to grow closer to God. As we transition into this new year, letʼs remember to keep God in our hearts and others in our prayers.

“Dear God, I pray for your strength today as I step into the world. Give me your eyes so that I can see all that there is to see. Give me your ears, so that I listen in-

tently for every morsel of instruction. Give me your heart, so that I learn to be more compassionate. Thank you for your grace and mercy which you hand out

freely every day. Lord, wrap your loving arms around those who need it most to-day, and give them peace. Amen.”

  • Craft Night for a Cause Friday, February 21, 7:00-8:30pm in the Family Life Center. Join us for an opportunity to create gifts for those attending the bilingual, marriage, and student retreats in Mexico hosted by the Centerpoint mission teams. Craft items will be provided, along with snacks (suggested $5 donation). No skills are needed to attend. If you are a jeweler or crafter willing to offer supplies and/or assist for the evening, please contact Marlena Sprague at [email protected].

Sewing Project for Missions The Hands of the Lord Quilters Interest Group has kits ready for sundresses and shorts to be assembled. We hope to have dresses for each of the girls and shorts and T-shirt sets for each of the boys that we visit on our next Uganda mission trip. (We buy T-shirts to go with the shorts we make.) If you can sew and would like to help with this mission project and sew a kit (or two or three), contact Sandy Nelson at [email protected].

Centerpoint Womenʼs Book Club Land of Silence By Tessa Afshar February 10, 6:30-8:30pm in the Library

Before she stole healing by touch of his garment… Elianna is a young girl crushed by guilt. After her only brother is killed while in her care, Elianna tries to earn forgiveness by working in her Fatherʼs textile trade and caring for her family. When tragedy places Elianna in sole charge of her business , her talent for design brings enormous success, but never the absolution that she longs for.

  • Womenʼs Class “Me, Myself, & Lies” Wednesdays, March 4-April 1, 5:30-7:00pm in Room 118C Cost of the book is $10

We all talk to ourselves all the time. We evaluate everything that we do, compare ourselves to others, and even call ourselves names. We disparage who we are instead of telling ourselves the truth about who God says we are. Come join Linda Buettner as she leads a 5 week study on the book, Me, Myself & Lies. This book deal with our destructive, unrealistic, self-talk. As she takes us through the things we commonly say to ourselves, she teaches us to practice godly and biblical soul-talk.

Sign up on the courtyard on Sunday, February 23 & March 1, online, or contact Karen Fales at [email protected] or 916-782-3186 x26.
