Christmas. That one word conjures up so many memories and so many feelings. Most of those memories revolve around friends and family: decorating the Christmas tree, eating Christmas cookies and sharing with those we love. It’s this time of the year that we all like to turn our homes into the kind of place that reminds us of treasured memories from the past and prepares us in joyous anticipation of the holiday to come.

There are so many fabulous opportunities to add Christmas decor to your home. Holiday wall art is a simple change that adds a lot of festive spirit. The fireplace is a great spot for adding holiday cheer since it is already the focal point of your room. Garlands, lights and fabrics make for easy draping. Candles and lanterns are also good for this spot. Floral arrangements can be custom made to fit any space such as the narrow ledge of the mantle. They are also great to spread around your home on tables or perhaps on a piano. They make a dramatic statement when setting a holiday dining table, combined with beautiful linens and glowing candles.

Of course the most obvious Christmas decoration is the tree. There are several new trends showing this coming holiday season. The biggest being laser-cut wood decorations. These beautiful natural wood pieces range from three dimensional lighted tabletop sculptures to intricate ornaments. These look amazing in contrast to a traditional green tree with just a pop of red. Another big trend this year is a neutral rustic look which combines weathered wood and galvanized metal with rich creamy textures. Metallics also play a large role in Christmas tree decorating whether combined with a color or mixed with each other to make a dramatic statement.

It doesn’t matter to what lengths you go to in your holiday decorating from just a tree or to a full blown house full of Christmas. We all have different opinions on how to decorate for Christmas. The most important thing to do is to make it your own. A warm beautiful place to enjoy spending this most wonderful Holiday time with those you love.

Caring for your Poinsettias is easy! As soon as this plant arrives home, be sure to wait to unwrap it indoors and NOT outside.

Place it in an area that will receive bright, indirect light and away from heat vents. Avoid hot or cold drafts. Keep the soil moist, to slightly dry at all times. The easiest method is to water with ice cubes, just one cube per inch of pot diameter, so a 6” wide pot would receive just six ice cubes every few days. Poinsettias are available at Linton’s Enchanted Gardens starting at only $4.99 and up.

Linton’s was honored...

Spring sprung early at Linton’s Enchanted Gardens in Elkhart, Indiana. As the blustery weather continued outside, our guests were welcomed into our indoor spring by our flower and fauna covered dressmaker form affectionately named “Flora”. We wanted to shout the spring message right away, so we covered our “Front Porch” with bright cheery flowers, wreaths and garlands. As you continue into the store, you are enveloped by a variety of vignettes all sending out the spring message. Before the first flowers of spring bloom you can find sprouts and splashes of new bright green. We overloaded one area with fresh ferns and green plants & moss combined with rusty metal browns and accents of white. Singing birds are one of the first signs of spring, so we set an area full of bright colored birds and butterflies from statuary, art work and a cute bird shaped shelf. On the softer side, our Shabby Chic area gives our customers yet another choice for converting their homes to lighter, brighter decor. The palest pink and creamy white mix well with the weathered wood tones. Another one combines crisp green, white and black partnered with touches of rustic wood to give the feel of an elegant, clean statement. Finally, we are ready to sail into warmer weather with this striking red, white & blue nautical assemblage. A jaunty chevron throw sets the base for a variety of sea worthy items just perfect for a summer get-away. These are just a few of the inspiration areas throughout the vast interior decor shop here at Linton’s. We knew we were successful at bringing the spirit of spring to our customers by the relaxed expressions on their faces and the sighs of relief upon entering.

Floral Trends Ruth Linton

It seems like Christmas Holidays come very fast. Then, like a speeding bullet, we are supposed to get the decorations down. However, there are a few easy ideas to help you make the transition.

If you are not yet ready for spring, but need something more than pine cones in that evergreen wreath? Put some ferns in that wreath and replace the glitz and add some moss. Tuck a few natural-looking greens into the bookshelves or buffet top. Leave the hurricane without decor, but be prepared, in a few weeks to add a butterfly and blossoms.

The dining table can sport a color-coordinated scarf with a refreshing display of collectibles and glassware. The Christmas doormat can be replaced with a welcome that suffices for all seasons.

Another way to simplify this changeover is to use snowmen in your Christmas decor. Then they’ll be great for another two months, giving you some much needed time for the change-over.
