Two dancing jugglers and 100 yards of rope! In a show full of humor and playfulness, two jugglers from France use their dancing and puppet talents to create small rope stories. They tease and trick each other seemingly effortlessly but all in very accurate and precise choreographed juggling sequences.

Lamp at MidnightA play about GalileoFEBRUARY 18-21, 24-28, 7:30 P.M.

SNOW DRAMA THEATRE

This compelling and eloquent play—written 45 years ago—was the first play ever produced on the Snow Drama Theatre stage. History has taught us that Galileo Galilei was the first person to point a powerful telescope toward the night skies. In so doing, he discovered the true motion of our solar system. That event set into a motion an unintended conflict between science and religion, between empirical evidence and authority. Barrie Stavis’ play examines the process by which Galileo was put on religious trial, found guilty and punished for his thoughts and actions. As it chronicles one man’s attempt to expand the frontiers of human knowledge, it depicts four basic aspects of all mankind—truth, dignity, freedom and power. Through the enactment, we vicariously experience the interplay of man’s will, choice and the process of change while realizing something about our own moral obligations to what is right.

La BohèmeMARCH 18, 20-21, 24-25, 27, 7:30 P.M.

SNOW DRAMA THEATRE

A candle extinguished in a drafty stairwell, a lost key, and an accidental touch of cold hands in the dark—so begins the passionate, timeless and indelible story of love among young artists in Paris: La Bohème. When Rodolfo, a penniless poet, meets Mimi, a seamstress, they fall in love. But their love seems doomed once Rodolfo learns that Mimi is gravely ill. Can their tender relationship survive the cruelties of life and the flickleness of youth? At first glance, La Bohème depicts of the joys and sorrows of love and loss; on closer inspection, it reveals the deep emotional significance hidden in the trivial things (a bonnet, an old overcoat, a chance meeting with a neighbor) that make up our everyday lives. Few operas can equal the captivating romance and genuinely moving humanity of Puccini’s La Bohème.
