The Culinary Health Fund moves forward on BETTER care with local hospitals

The Culinary Health Fund is pleased that the Health Services Coalition and the five hospitals in the Valley Health System have reached an agreement that will allow Culinary Health Fund Participants and family members to continue receiving care at all local hospitals.

As part of the new agreement, The Valley Health System hospitals will partner with our Fund and the Coalition on quality improvements to make hospital care “BETTER”, an initiative dedicated to improving health care delivery in Southern Nevada.

In addition, all other Las Vegas hospitals contracts have successfully been negotiated and all hospitals in the Las Vegas Area will remain in the Culinary network. All hospital contracts include commitments to move forward on “BETTER” hospital care initiatives with the Culinary Health Fund and the Coalition.

As part of the “BETTER” campaign, all local area hospitals will engage in improving quality through the implementation of new initiatives specific to their facilities. They have also agreed to the following initiatives:

• Collaborative public reporting of quality measures such as quality data, hospital readmissions rates and others.

• Implementation of a quality incentive program, whereby these hospitals will get additional reimbursement if they meet specific quality measures in areas such as infection control, surgical safety and others.

The Culinary Health Fund is delighted that all Las Vegas hospitals are committed to “BETTER” quality of care for our participants and their families, ultimately saving lives while reducing health care costs. Culinary Health Fund Patients will have no disruption in their care at any hospital.
