A plumbing and heating distribu-tion center, which has announced plans to locate at the Springfield Memorial Industrial Park in East

Springfield, will invest about $9 million in the project and create ap-proximately 40 jobs. F.W. Webb Company an-nounced that it will purchase 14.3 acres at the city-owned industrial park for $1 million, and will construct a two-phase distribution center costing about $8 million. Each phase will be about 65,000 square feet. The industrial park is located on Performance Boulevard, off Roosevelt Avenue. F.W. Webb is the largest dis-tributor of plumbing, heating, cooling, and piping products in the Northeast, and will become the second tenant of the industrial park. The city purchased the land from Smith and Wesson in 2006, and secured its first tenant, Performance Food Group, in 2007. Local officials, including Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief Develop-ment Officer John D. Judge, gathered at the industrial park, to welcome F.W. Webb during a press conference Tuesday. The company will initially employ 20 people and is expecting to grow to 40 to 50 people over the next few years, said Ed J. Welch, F.W. Webb’s regional manager in Methuen. Most of the jobs will pay between $12.50 per hour for warehouse work to the low-$20 range, Welch said. The distribution center will be built in two phases, expected to begin in the spring. The company will continue to operate smaller plants in Northampton and Greenfield, and is also opening new sites in Hyannis and Boston. “We are thrilled to have a blue chip company like F.W. Webb announce expansion plans for a facility in our city,” Sarno said.

Jack Hester, a 41-year veteran of F.W. Webb who served as its long-time president, and most recently its chair-man, announced his retirement effective January 1, 2010. In addition to his valuable contributions to F.W. Webb, Hester has been a tireless industry supporter throughout his career, including president of the American Sup-ply Association. Hester embodies all of the characteristics one wants in a leader in any industry — strength of character, honesty, integrity,

loyalty and a strong work ethic. In the January issue of the Wholesaler Magazine, their editorial director Mary Jo Martin, who has great regard for Jack, will share an exclusive Q&A article that she conducted with him upon hearing the news of his pending retirement.We wish Jack all the best!!

Harry See, Vice President of Refrigeration, has announced his retirement effective January 1, 2010. He joined F.W. Webb in 2000 with the acquisition of his company, N.W. Day. His career there spanned 40 years. He dedi-cated ten years building the refrigeration division for Webb. Thanks to his dedication, experience and industry relationships, he succeeded in making F.W.Webb the northeast leader in refrigeration in quick order.

In his half century career, his name is now synonymous in the entire industry with excellence in refrigeration. Thank you Harry!

Michigan. In addition to covering the full Blackmer line of

product, the training focused on the Mouvex eccentric-disc

style pump as well as in-depth application discussions. The

class experienced Blackmer’s world-class testing laboratory

where they were able to put pumps through their paces with

different liquids, a variety of viscosity ranges, and varying

suction and discharge conditions. They also witnessed

Blackmer’s manufacturing process which includes control of

the process from primary casting through final assembly and

testing. ‘Made in the USA’ remains important at Blackmer and

their commitment to quality is evident throughout!

The BIOCOR series ALMATEC pump is especially designed for sterile applications within the biopharmaceutical and related hygienic industries. The air-operated diaphragm pumps are EHEDG certified for cleanability as well as ATEX certified to conform to 94/9/EG directive for classified areas. BIOCOR pumps are fitted with PTFE (diaphragms, ball valves, O-rings) and equipped with a diaphragm monitoring system are 3-A approved. This hygienic design enables the CIP (clean in place) and SIP (sterilization in place) capability.

Important for sterile applications, all fluid paths of the BIOCOR pumps have no horizontal surfaces. Each pump comes with four ball lifting magnets that can be attached to the pump housing from the outside at the location of the four ball valves. The magnets lift the ball valves out of their seats causing the pump to drain entirely without having to be dismantled. There are no mechanical ball lifters with parts and seals in the wetted area.

The three pump sizes available are the B 20 (1”) , B 32 (1.5”), B40 (2”) and achieve max. capacities of 3.5, 7.5, 14m³/h (15, 33, 62 gph) respectively. Maximum discharge pressure is 7 bar (100psig). The material for the wetted housing parts is electro polished SS 316 L (1.4435, according to Basel Standard II, ferrite content < 1%) with a surface roughness of < 0.4 µm (<15 RA u-inch). The center block is made of conductive polyethylene. Full documentation is available for validation purposes including mill and class VI certificate for PTFE .

What makes the Spirax Sarco 25-Series regulators such hot sellers year after year? At the top would be its versatility. This family of self-acting pressure and temperature regulators with control pilots offers interchangeable main valves for most steam applications.

Options for pressure regulation include pressure reduction (25P), combined pressure reduction with electrical on/off override (25PE), and as a backpressure regulator (25BP). Color-coded, interchangeable springs allow quick and easy change of downstream pressure range, eliminating the need to isolate the valve or break the steam line.

Options for temperature regulation include temperature control (25T) as well as combined temperature control with electrical on/off override (25TE). Seven pre-calibrated temperature ranges are interchangeable throughout the range.

The 25-Series is available in sizes 1/2” to 6” with screwed and flanged connections. Designed for lasting durability and precision, the 25-Series main valve is single-seated with hardened stainless steel trim. It is covered by an extended 2-year warranty.
