Jeremiah Jaeger, with the help of F.W. Webb, SimplexGrinnell, and you, raised over $3,500 as a team and over $25,000 total to benefit Childhood Cancer Research.

Today’s steam plate heat exchangers are compact, reliable, highly efficient, easy to maintain and have a long life. Space Saving Plate heat exchangers are compact and light weight making them easier and less costly to install. They take up less plant room space and are easy to integrate with existing installations. Adaptable It is straightforward to add or remove plates to change the capacity of the plate heat exchanger if heat demand changes in the future. Easy to Control Modern controls can make the most of a plate heat exchang-er’s inherent fast response and close temperature control ca-pabilities, great for applications with fast-changing loads, such as instantaneous hot water. Efficient Operations The shape of the corrugated surface on each plate makes max-imum use of the heat transfer area. It optimizes the turbulence and

pressure drop on the primary and secondary sides for more efficient heating and offers higher pressure capabilities. Minimal Energy Loss Plate heat exchangers can extract a great amount of useful heat. This avoids po tential energy losses where it is impractical to recover the hot condensate and flash steam. The small size also means that they lose less heat to their surroundings. Reduced Equipment Costs For low temperature hot water applications, plate heat ex changers use steam at low pressure, often 15 pounds at full load and much lower under part load conditions, minimizing flash steam. This eliminates the investment in flash steam recovery systems. Low Maintenance Costs Turbulent flow reduces scale build up on the secondary side, cutting maintenance costs. Also, heat exchanger plates are easily removed for cleaning when required, so even very hard water should not be a problem.

Pressure And temperature Regulators Can Save you thousands of Dollars Each Year!Whether steam is generated in-plant, or purchased from a utility, the efficient use of its heat requires effective and reliable control. A pressure and temperature regulator can save thousands of dollars in steam costs each year by allowing the most heat to be transferred from each pound of steam and by preventing waste and overheating from lowering plant productivity.

While many valves operate in fully open or tightly closed mode, a modulating pressure and temperature regulator will enable your system equipment to function more profitably and efficiently by adjusting itself to each pressure or temperature requirement.

To obtain a lower steam pressure downstream that is supplied, calls for a pressure reducing valve. This valve will hold the reduced pressure constant even though the demand load may require little or no steam or its maximum flow.

A back pressure regulator opens when the upstream pressure increases beyond its set point. It can relieve excess steam from a flash vessel or it can shut down the supply to less essential steam equipment at times of peak demand.

Finally, the valve may be required to vary the steam flow to maintain a constant temperature in the process itself. Temperature regulators are used most frequently to control air or water temperature.

Be sure to select control valves according to the different types of control functions they are required to perform

Total equipment isolation valves are never 100% reliable. For this reason, most safety regulations require positive shutoff devices such as line blinds. This is especially true in high-temperature, critical services. Strahman line blinds combine 100% positive shutoff with very quick actuation. This reduces the time-consuming changes of standard spectacle plates. They are specifically designed for a wide range of temperatures and meet the Api 607 rev.4 fire safe standards.Strahman pioneered the development of the non-spreading and quick-action lind blinds and was the first company to receive lloyd’s of london certification for the its line blinds used in cryogenic application such as lnG.our technology and expertise provides you with an extensive range of standard line blinds and the ability to design a solution that meets your unique application. All Strahman Line Blinds:• Save time: Require minimal maintenance and provides ease of operation.• prevent product contamination.• Comply with ASmE b31, AnSi 16.5 and Api 590 and meets international Din, Api, Tuv AnD

One the most popular traps used in the pharmaceutical and Bio-Tech industries is the Spirax Sarco “BTM7” Trap. The BTM7 is a vertical body thermostatic steam trap manufactured from 316L stainless steel. Normal operation is close to saturated steam temperature, with minimal back-up of condensate. Available in ½”, ¾” and 1” with Tri clamp, Tube Ends or NPT connections

Typical applications include Fermenter sterilization, steam barriers (block and bleed systems), sterilizer drainage and air venting. In addition, CIP/SIP system condensate drainage, and sterilization of process vessels and pipes.

The trap is designed for installation in vertical lines with the flow downward to ensure self-draining. The element may be damaged if it is exposed to superheated steam. The BTM7 is a maintainable trap. Maintenance on the trap can be performed once the steam trap is isolated from system and return line pressure.

Call Webb Bio-Pharm today for your BTM7 requirements or any other Spirax Sarco items you may require!
