As a WSU student, you should know how to complete the following tasks related to Classes and Registration. Begin by signing in to WINGS Express following the instructions listed below. Please note: If you do not have your campus username and password, call Wright State Computing and Telecommunications Services (CaTS) at 937-775-4827.

Log in to WINGS Express Log into http://wings.wright.edu Enter your campus username (w###aaa) and password. Click the WINGS Express icon in the upper-right hand corner of the screen. If this is your first time using WINGS Express, you’ll be prompted to change your PIN.

Look Up Classes Navigate to Student and Financial Aid > Registration & Records > Look Up Classes

Select the Term from the drop-down list and click the Submit button.

Advanced Search Use the Subject up and down arrows to scroll through all available subjects.

You must select at least one Subject, Campus, and Part of Term

You can choose multiple subjects by using the Shift or Ctrl key.

You can further refine your search by entering information in the additional fields such as Instructor or Attribute Type.

Once you have selected filters, click the Section Search button at the bottom

Course information Click on the Course Reference Number (CRN) to check for important course-section specific details

Co-Requisites/Pre-Requisites Corequisites and Prerequisites for the course are displayed in the Detailed Class Information.

Department Managed Prerequisites

When a student record does not reflect prerequisite requirements having been met, student will NOT BE prevented from registering for courses with System Enforced prerequisite(s) but students may be subsequently dropped from the course by departmental action

Select Registration Status If you would like to register for the course, return to Look Up Classes and place a checkmark in the Select box of the desired course and click the Add to Worksheet button; select option indicates ability to register for the course

You may also make note of the CRNs for the courses for which you would like to register and use the Add or Drop Classes link in WINGS Express to register for all CRNSs at one time (see instructions below)

Add or Drop Classes

Navigate to Student and Financial Aid > Registration & Records > Add or Drop Classes

Select the Term from the drop-down list and click the Submit button.

To Add Classes When You Know the CRN(s)

When you know the CRNs (Course Reference Number(s)), you can enter CRN information directly in the CRN

field(s) on the “Add Classes Worksheet”. Always click Submit Changes.

If you do not know the CRNs, see the Look Up Classes instructions above.

Registration Restrictions and Other Registration Errors When Registration is attempted but not permitted due to any of the reasons indicated in the following sections, a message will appear above the Add Classes Worksheet indicating the condition(s) preventing registration and the class will not have been added to the Current Schedule:

Course Restrictions Requiring Override Student should seek/obtain permission by contacting the department/school offering the course for assistance if registration is blocked due to a course restriction. Students and advisors can view their Registration Status page for any registration permits and overrides that have already been assigned to them. After receiving the appropriate override permission from the department, the student may register for the course.

Other Registration Errors

Error Message Procedure

You may not add or drop classes due to holds on your record

The student has a HOLD. The student or advisor may view their Registration Status pages to determine if there are holds that prevent registration. For detailed information on the holds, the student can click the link on the bottom of the Registration Status page to access the View Holds page

The student is not permitted to register at this time

Some students are assigned a default registration PIN for a specific term which may be maintained to enforce mandatory advising. Students and advisors can view their Registration Status page in WINGS Express to determine the student’s registration window. If the student is not permitted to register at the time, one of the following messages may display. If no Registration PIN is assigned, student will receive the following message:

Your registration window has not been assigned for <term>. Please contact RaiderConnect at (937) 775-4000.

If the student has a Registration PIN assigned, but registration window for the term has not opened yet, student will receive the following message:

You are not permitted to register for <term> at this time. Your registration window for this term opens on <date> at 12:01 a.m.

You require readmission prior to registration

Student has not been enrolled since the re- admit term

The student has not been enrolled during the past year. This error message will be displayed on the Registration Status page. Student may need to be readmitted. Contact RaiderConnect at 937-775-4000 for assistance.

The person you have entered is not a student for the selected term

If a student is admitted for a past term and does not attend, or admitted for a future term, and an advisor or the student attempts to register for courses in a term that they have not been admitted, they will receive this error message. Student should contact Undergraduate or Graduate Admissions for assistance.

Duplicate CRN Error Message Student is or was previously registered for this CRN. If a student drops a course and then attempts to reregister for that same section, they may receive this error message. If the student is waitlisted for the course and attempts to add the same section, the student will receive the Duplicate CRN message. Student may seek registration assistance from RaiderConnect.

Waitlisting If a section has been created with a wait list, the student may put themselves on the wait list by selecting the Web Wait listed option under the Action box in the Registration ADD Errors section on the Add or Drop Classes page. The student will receive an email notification to his/her wright.edu email account if an opening becomes available. The student must then register for the class via Add or Drop Classes in WINGS Express. See Waitlist Registration Facts

Maximum Hours Exceeded The request the student has made resulted in a credit-hour overload. Student must contact their RaiderConnect for assistance.
