4 Winfrasoft Gateway Appliance
Introduction The Winfrasoft appliance is factory prepared to provide a fast and consistent setup process.
This quick start guide is designed to help you with the initial setup process for evaluating an
appliance. It is highly recommend that you follow all of the instructions in this document.
The appliance includes various wizards to aid the deployment process by assisting with
network adapter configuration, Microsoft Forefront TMG rule creation and Microsoft
Forefront TMG/UAG 2010 setup, please refer to the appropriate setup guide to assist you
with the rest of the deployment.
This document assumes that you have downloaded the Appliance self-extracting RAR files
which contain the Appliance installation files.
Extracting Download Files There are typically 7 or 8 files which make up a download set. The names of these files
would reflect the Winfrasoft Appliance model which you are evaluating and its version
number.
For example, if you are evaluating the Forefront TMG Workgroup/Standard edition, the files
would be named as follows:
TMGSE2010-4.x.x.part1.exe
TMGSE2010-4.x.x.part2.rar
TMGSE2010-4.x.x.part3.rar
TMGSE2010-4.x.x.part4.rar
Etc
(1) Copy all the archive files into a single folder.
(2) Run the part1 executable file to begin the extraction.
(3) The setup package will extract an ISO DVD image and supporting documentation in
PDF format.
After the self-extraction has completed, you will have a new .ISO in the current folder.
TMGSE2010-4.0.10123.iso
This ISO image is bootable image that can be burnt to DVD or mounted as a DVD to your
Virtual Machine environment.
The ISO can also be applied to a USB stick by running the makeusb.cmd command on the
root of the ISO image. This command must be run from an admin command prompt on
Windows Vista or higher and it will create a bootable USB stick which can be used to build
an evaluation appliance on a supported physical server platform.
