Château Musar, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon

For over 6,000 years, wine has been produced in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Founded in 1930,

Château Musar has become one to the most esteemed wineries in the world. In 1984, when

Britain’s “Decanter Magazine” named their first ever “Man of the Year,” it was given to

Serge Hochar of Château Musar.

Château Musar Red ~ Smoky, leathery with mature ripe flavors and spice. Balanced and very

complex with solid tannins. Some tea and vanilla aromas, coffee brown sugar. These wines are so

amazingly complex and seem to age forever. There is some style similarity to an older Rioja of

Spain, but these flavors are unique. Pair with one of our great aged steaks and enjoy the ride.

Vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Carignan and Grenache

Château Musar Red 1999 ~ Nuance of vanilla, chocolate, rich, powerful, very long finish 160

Château Musar Red 2004 ~ Nose of mature fruits, figs, cherries, intense, concentrated 130

Château Musar White 2009 or 2010 ~ Blend of 2/3 Obaideh (ancestor of Chardonnay)

and 1/3 Merwah (ancestor of Semillon) fermented and partly aged in oak barrels for nine months.

This wine, with proper cellaring, can age for many decades.

Definitely a Bordeaux blend, but with dramatic character from the famed

Seven Hills Vineyard of Washington’s Walla Walla Valley. Doug Frost’s style is to control

small amount of Viognier into stunning Syrah. As it is true with their Bordeaux blend

above, the vineyard lets you know what style of wine will be the final result.

make in the form of their fruits.” – Doug Frost, MW, MS, co-owner

The Crane Assembly By David Phinney, Winemaker

Dr. George Beldon Crane first established grapes on this site in 1885, making it one of the oldest

vineyards in the Napa Valley. Currently eight acres are in production including four acres

containing a mixture of Crane’s original plantings with some newer (1930s) vines. These four

acres have been continuously farmed for over 130 years. David Phinney (founder of Orin Swift)

bought these eight acres in 2012.
