Outfield fences can be symmetrical (the same distance from home plate to the fence at all points) or like major league parks with different distances to center field and mid-field. The following chart provides approximate outfield fence lengths assuming a center field depth 10% - 15% deeper than the foul lines. Measurements: Our windscreens are custom made to your dimensions. Measure carefully.

When ordering, please have dimensions ready for each section of windscreen, including gates. There is no extra charge for these smaller pieces. We recommend leaving 6”-12” open at bottom for maintenance and air flow. For long runs 50’-100’ pieces work best. Much longer pieces become more difficult for you to install.

Tall Windscreens:

When 2 woven polypropylene rolls are used to make a taller windscreen: one material overlaps the other (and is double sewn with 2 layers of

banding) to make a seam (like lacing lip w/o sticking out back and w/o grommets); whereas ArmorMesh, VCM9x12, and VCP1800 seams are heat-welded and do not require the more visible banding. Horizontal lacing lip required for windscreens over 6’H.

REMEMBER… DON’T “GUESSTIMATE”. NO TWO FENCES ARE THE SAME!

How to Measure for your Fence’s Windscreen Windscreens come in a number of styles, grades, heights, lengths and colors. Proper measurements equal proper fittings, which in turn equals a professional appearance that is sure to enhance the look of your facility. Measuring your facility’s fences is actually a pretty easy project. Prior to starting, you’ll need the following tools:

Measuring tape (100’+ in length is preferable) or Measuring Wheel

A pencil or pen to document the measurements.

Field or court diagram showing the fences that will require windscreen. If a diagram is not available, a hand drawn one

will help you keep things straight. With your tools in hand and the step-by-step process below, you’re ready to begin measuring. 1. Start with your fence height. For the most part, your fence will remain relatively the same height through out. However, measuring a tennis court will be different than fencing for field sports. Tennis courts are flat surfaces that allow the fence to be the same height all the way around. With field sports, you may have an uneven ground surface which will cause your height measurements to vary slightly. A good rule of thumb is to measure from the bottom of the upper crossbar down to the ground and subtract 3” to 6” for maintenance. It is important to pull the measuring tape tight so that there is no slack. If in-stalling “top bar to bottom bar” or “inside tension bar to inside tension bar” allow one fence diamond exposed top & bottom or each side for attaching windscreen. It’s better you if measure an inch too short than too long, to account for stretching. The windscreens are custom made to the dimensions you provide. 2. Follow-up the fence height measurements with fence length measurements. 3. For ease of handling, 50’-100’ panels work best for ballfield fences. Another consideration is that if you need to replace a panel for whatever reason, it will be cheaper to replace a 50’-100’ section versus a much larger section.
