Windpower

Here in Norway we do not have as many windmills as other countries, like Germany for example. One of the reasons for this is because some bird species have a tendency to become attracted by moving objects. They do therefore get nocked down by the mill’s blades, after flying in to one of the mills. The blades rotate at such an immense speed and power, that the bird immediately dies. One bird specie which is endangered is the sea eagle.

Another argument is that the windmills look “ugly” we want Norway to consist of pure untouched nature, and the windmills prevents us from achieving this. However let us not forget that Norway has a multitude of hydroelectric power plants, and we are therefore less dependent of windmills and windpower.

Judging from the information we have found, the number of windmills built in Norway is today at 441 mills.
