WINDOW GENIE OWNER PLANS TO PASS BUSINESS

TO VETERAN TO CARRY ON HIS LEGACY

In 2014, Dick Stieren, 64, opened Nebraska’s first Window Genie business. Mindful of a looming retirement, Stieren made a kind, if

not patriotic decision. He consulted the Vet-erans Services Center at Bellevue University, which helps veterans who are students there find employment. Stieren thought long and hard about staffing his new business and came to the conclusion that those who have served would not only help him grow it, they would possess the kind of attributes that make for a successful entrepreneur. At the same time this would give Stieren the ultimate opportunity of giving back. Now Stieren is leveraging his extensive industry experience with a new goal in mind: grooming his successor, U.S. Marine Corps veteran Wade Jensen.

Serving eastern Nebraska including parts of Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties, Window Genie of Omaha provides window cleaning, window tinting and pressure washing with the mobile cleaning franchise named on Entrepreneur Magazine’s annual Franchise 500® list for five consecutive years.

Stieren honed his franchising acumen as a Burger King

franchisee for 13 years and then serving another 12 years at

Burger King’s corporate offices. Before investing in Window

Genie of Omaha, Stieren worked as a business

consultant, guiding businesses through tough times and

helping them grow.

About Window Genie

Founded in 1994 by Richard Nonelle, Cincinnati-based Window Genie is a mobile cleaning services company focused primarily on its “big three” services: window cleaning, window tinting and pressure washing. The company also offers, among many other services, dryer vent cleaning, chandelier clean-ing and gutter cleaning and re-securing. Window Genie services primarily residential customers, as well as small offices and commercial spaces. The company has over 80 franchise partners operating in over 200 markets and in 25 states and expects to grow to 100 franchisees by the end of 2015 and over 300 within five years. Target markets include California, New York and Florida.

“I had already done well in business and helped many others do well in business so my thought was, why not take one more shot at establishing another successful, yet completely different ven-ture for myself to bridge the gap between now and retirement?,” said Stieren.

And establish a successful business is what Stie-ren has done. Working with Jensen, Stieren has found that he’s more than up to the task of one day taking over the reins at Window Genie.

“I see in Wade the kind of pluck and ambition that running a company demands,” said Stieren. “As a Marine, Wade had to be tenacious, pas-sionate and driven, all skills he has brought to Window Genie of Omaha as well.”

As Stieren begins to eye a future outside of his business, he has pointed to Jensen’s future as Window Genie of Omaha’s new owner as a point of pride without compare.

“When I began my business at 63, I realized that my exit strategy was every bit as important as the initial process of establishing the business,” said Stieren. “As a business coach I’ve made it my lifelong career to set others up for success. Passing along this opportunity has been and will remain the business legacy for which I am most proud.”
