Dedicated to Sino-American cultural exchange, the Huayun Chinese Orchestra is initiated and sponsored by the Confucius Institute of the University of Texas at Dallas. It has become the most prominent Chinese music troupe in the DFW area. Mainly composed of amateur musicians, the band features a variety of traditional Chinese instruments. Since 2012, the Orchestra has performed in such diverse venues as The Crow Collection of Asian Art and the Plano Asian American Heritage Festival.This is the 3rd annual show under the auspices of the UTD Confucius Institute, the previous two shows being Song of Cathay and Four Seasons of China.In early 2015, the Huayun Orchestra co-hosted and played an ensamble with the Houston Chinese Orchestra in Houston at the Philia Theater.
